Bosendorphen Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 My band played a Valentines Day concert/dance on the 12th. One of our best ever gigs and we've done many over the past 30-odd years. We had people dancing constantly, complementing our originals, buying CDs and setting up more gigs for us! So much fun - this is what it's about. During the gig I had a rash-like red spot on my forehead which had appeared earlier in the week. A mild skin irritation I thought. By the time I got home from the gig my forehead had swollen to the point I was beginning to look part Klingon. Long story short, I had contracted impetigo (probably where my wife and I get our haircuts) which developed into full blown cellulitis in my face. It went to my right eyelid and I looked like I'd been in a prizefight. After most of the week in the hospital on antibiotics I'm almost back to normal. My general feelings are gratitude for the wonderful folks at the hospital (even the ER was relatively fast going), my wife for taking good care of me, and the memories of the great gig that sustained me through the week. And the anticipation of many more! Just wanted to share. Whew! I haven't been in the hospital that long since I was 7 when I had my tonsils removed. Marzzz Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Get well, Bosendorphin! Hopefully they will also do something about your bad case of exopthalmos!* *Seriously, dude- your avatar grosses me out!
Joe Muscara Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Yeesh. Get well soon. Maybe your avatar should be a pic from that post-prizefight period. "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Bobadohshe Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Whoa! Glad you're alright, and congrats on the great attitude. Imagine if the gig had been super crappy and then you had to go the hospital. ugh. Amazing how a great gig can lift your spirits above anything. I do want to see the klingon pics though. allan_evett Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Sorry to hear about that, but very glad that you're recovering well. Sounds like you had a lot of great support, plus the memory of an excellent gig.
