EddiePlaysBass Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 And no, it wasn't me who initiated it. Few nights ago the guitarist called me while I was driving home from work. I missed the call but noticed, so called him back. Got his voice mail, so no luck. Forgot all about it until today (while driving home) he called me again. Basically said everything I have been saying here for a while now. How much fun it used to be but no longer is, how he feels bad about ending it yet relieved to finally make the decision etc. I feel funny in a way, because on the one hand I am glad (this is what I wanted, and it is the easier way out for me) but sad at the same time. I've been with this band since 2005 (maybe earlier than that, I don't know by heart). He already suggested I speak with the new band about doing a few support gigs for his other band. They are going to release their debut cd in May and have hired a booking agent, who clearly knows what he or she is doing because they have tons of gigs on the books. And I told him, he just plays a lot better and more inspired with those guys than he does with us. Anyway, just wanted to share. This means no more lamentation threads from me, I guess. Chad Thorne Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Probably better it worked out this way than you bailing before the guitar player was "there" emotionally. Good luck to all of you!
Richard W Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 When I read the title to this thread, I thought you were talking about Hosni Mubarak and Egypt. kenfxj Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 When I read the title to this thread I was fearful it had something to with virginity. Best of luck with the new band David! Push the button Frank.

b5pilot Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Oh well. Now though you can concentrate on bigger and better things. Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it. http://www.myspace.com/theeldoradosband
EddiePlaysBass Posted February 15, 2011 Author Posted February 15, 2011 Had a chat with the guitarist last night (literally, via FB) and aside from being sad that he had to end the band (well, his connection to it anyway) he is also increasingly p*ssed at the singer for letting it come to this. At least one person who won't end up blaming me He was also called by Singer, who then said: "well but now I have to look for something else" as if it were anyone's problem. He called me too and suggested we start a band together as a duo. Ehm not really a lot of free time right now ... I also told the guitarist to go out and try to make it big time with his other band, and wished him best of luck in all he aspires to do, and that we will start something new down the line (without certain people). Davo-London Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 That sounds like life to me. Sorry and glad in equal measures. Keep your spirits up. Davo "We will make you bob your head whether you want to or not". - David Sisk
EddiePlaysBass Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Hey Davo, my spirits are up all right. Told the singer's brother I'll burn him a cd with all the songs we rehearsed but never actually played live. It was depressing to notice we had tried around 20 songs which never made it to our live sets, 13 of which were good to go. That would have been the additional set of songs we needed for better gigs etc. But one member in particular kept saying: "No, they don't sound right, they won't go over well ..."
