Sven Golly Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Sorry for the intrusion, guys, longtime Keyboard Corner member here. Just wanted to share the unfortunate news that Gary Moore has passed away at the young age of 58. R.I.P, Gary.
BiC Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Yeah, I just read the news. Weird, because I just finished watching him burn up the g-tar on Fender's 50th Anniversary special. antimatter Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 This sucks. Gary Moore was an amazing player with an uncanny ability to burn on demand. I was really hoping he'd come around again so I could see him. That ain't gonna happen. RIP Gary
SEHpicker Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 OMG! Can't believe it. We played "Still Got The Blues" at a gig last night... I think we did it better than ever... lots of big compliments. And now he's gone. wow, so sad. Gary was an incredible player. He inpired me in a big, big way. I will surely miss him. R.I.P Gary. is an awesome example of Gary's stellar talents - both on guitar and vocally. SEHpicker The further a society drifts from truth the more it will hate those who speak it." George Orwell
Dreamer Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I was shocked to hear the news. The last time I heard about him was when he sold the famous Les Paul he bought from Peter Green. I wonder if the two things are related; I mean, did he die from a sudden death or was he ill and knew about it? Anyway, I hope that the he can rest in peace. Bartholomew Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Terrible news...just added "Still Got the Blues" to our repertoire a few weeks back...one of the best feeling players out there. Been round the block but am not over the hill... http://www.bandmix.ca/jamrocker/
skipclone 1 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 That is just awful news. I was on holiday in Spain as well just this past Christmas. I also spent a few days in France, one of the things I remember is hearing someone playing in one of the underground walkways. I stopped to listen for a minute, and they were playing the melody to `Still Got the Blues`. Winston Psmith Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Maybe it's just because I'm getting old, but 58 seems kind of young. Damn! Rest in peace, brother. bbqbob Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Damn! This is huge and a such a bummer. He had so much more to offer.
Delta Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I started listening to some of his solo recordings about a year ago. A dynamic guitarist who respected the old blues players and was respected in return by many of them. It always hurts to lose a fellow player, especially at such a relatively young age. "Let me stand next to your fire!", Jimi Hendrix
02R96 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well instead of working on taxes (like I promised my wife), I've been watching Gary Moore video's on YouTube. I came across this piece. The fun starts around the 4 minute mark. Pay attention to BB's facial expressions. [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqAuuIDU2sw&feature=related I'm in so much trouble... Dan "I hate what I've become, trying to escape who I am..."
Griffinator Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 That was a lot of fun, Dan. Thanks for posting. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
Terrell Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Wow... no details? I hope I get longer than that to rock! I always thought he was a solid player.
thebird55 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Well instead of working on taxes (like I promised my wife), I've been watching Gary Moore video's on YouTube. I came across this piece. The fun starts around the 4 minute mark. Pay attention to BB's facial expressions. [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqAuuIDU2sw&feature=related I'm in so much trouble... It was worth it. You beat me to it. But I found a cleaner version. Music starts at 1:04. This is one of the beast 'call & response' blues jams I've ever seen.
Kaweenbee Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Another great player gone too soon. kaweenbee
