My New Baby - Ain't She Purdy

Here's some photos of my new guitar. I actually got it last summer, but I'm just now getting around to posting some pictures.

It's a 2009 American Telecaster, in Crimson Red Transparent (the flash washed out the nice grain pattern). I bought the fully loaded body on Ebay, then ordered a custom neck from Warmoth. It's a Vintage Modern type in AAA Birdseye Maple with jumbo SS frets, 1 3/4" width, compound radius fingerboard, finished in a gloss polyurethane. Fender locking tuners and a nice reproduction decal tops it off.

Additionally I replaced the "new" bent steel saddles with Graf Tech String Saver's, and set it up with RotoSound 11-48's. The only other mod I might do is install Fender Vintage Noiseless Pickups, but for now the stock pups sound great.

I absolutely love this guitar. It's everything I always wanted for my first "good" instrument. The Warmoth neck (with the 1 3/4" width and the compound radius) fits my hand perfectly, and my playing has improved.

Enough gushing, here are the pics...

Sweet! Awesome axe, 02'. You're gonna be lovin' that Warmoth compound-radius fretboard forever, man; those spoil you for all others, they're incredibly excellent.

Beautiful bird's-eye maple, too. Is the neck finished all over, or did you opt for a "raw"/"unfinished" or oiled back?

If you want noise-canceling pickups, consider a set of Kinman AlNiCo Broadcaster or Telecaster type noiseless pickups; a good friend of mine who's VERY particular about his vintage and "boutique" gear loaded his Tele with a pair of Kinman Broadcaster-types at the neck and bridge and a Strat-stylee in the middle; they sound FANTASTIC and dead-quiet. Brad Paisley loves these pickups, too. HIGHLY recommended.

Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do?

The neck is a complete cover. The poly is not sticky like other finishes so I can move around pretty easily. I looked at the Kinman Pickups. They sound great but boy are they pricey!

I guess this is the difference between a cheap guitar and a quality build; I can strum it without an amp connected and hear every note. I can actually play it like an acoustic. The $200.00 guitars I had sounded dull.

I wonder if that is because the Tele is a solid plank, while the others were laminated wood? So it resonates better? Regardless, there's no comparison...

Telecasters rule!!! :rawk:

The elegant simplicity of a Telecaater is timeless beauty.

Yeah, it sure is.

Yeah, that's probably a good part of it. The quality and type of the wood probably helps, too. Is that ash, or alder, or what?
