Goldtop57
Hi All I have a road warrior 122 and C3 and they have given me years of trouble free gigs. But in the last month my leslie was unfortuantley dropped on it's side during a move and now the horn is thumping against the ceiling of the cabinet. How do I get this corrected? Also my percussion is going out on my C3. I can hear a faint noise with all the drawbars down and percussion on....Does that sound like a tube or switch problem?? B3Nut
If the horn's thumping against the ceiling of the cabinet, it sounds as if two of the three screws that hold the horn driver in place have fallen out. You'll have to take all back panels off the Leslie to see exactly what has fallen out and/or broken. If you like post some photos of the Leslie with the back off and we can help you sort it out. As for your percussion issue, by faint noise do you mean the tones don't decay all the way? Adjusting the PERC DECAY pot on the back of the preamp can clear this up. Does the percussion pass signal at all when keys are played and no drawbars are out? TP --- Todd A. Goldtop57
I've taken the panel off and when the horn hits full speed the rotor in the back wobbles and the horn hits the celing. Percussion, with my percussion on and all drawbars down I would expect a bell tone of the 2nd or 3rd harmonic that would be sort of loud but it's just barely faint and over the last few weeks I had some bad distortion in the percussion before it dropped to this level. B3Nut
Firstly, try wiggling and reseating the 12AU7 and both 6C4 tubes at the rightmost end of the preamp as you're looking in the back. Try swapping them if that doesn't clear it up. Is the horn driver screwed in tightly, all 3 screws? Also check the horn for cracks or looseness, it could have partially broken off the horn bearing. If it broke off the bearing and you can find all the pieces, you can glue it back together. Failing that, new horns are available and not too expensive. Sounds like a partially broken horn more than anything else... TP --- Todd A. Goldtop57
Thanks for the Ideas. I ended up calling the local hammond man. Rod Camp. 2 caps in the percussion had broken leads and the rubber gromets on the upper rotor where gone. So hopefully I will get another 10 years of road work out of my baby's
