Joe P
Check out this video from 1983. Garth Hudson is performing in what appears to be a desk chair with armrests. First glimpse is 1:56 then a good look at 3:05. Looks like it's probably on wheels, though. All the griping we do about stand heights and stools etc. and he is just getting it done in a desk chair. The more I see of this guy the more I am just completely baffled. Regards, Joe
drawback
I believe at the time there was a promotion at Office Depot that when you bought a Lowrey organ you got a free steno chair. ____________________________________Rod
retrokeys
In this clip there was another keyboardist besides Hudson and and Manual, in earlier days Hudson had a lot of keybopard territory to cover. A chair on wheels would have made some sense.
iLaw
Great clip. And that ain't the Lowrey he's playing! Larry.
Chris Link
Glenn Gould "had to sit fourteen inches above the floor and would only play concerts while sitting on the old chair his father had made. He continued to use this chair even when the seat was completely worn through. His chair is so closely identified with him that it is shown in a place of honor in a glass case at the National Library of Canada." aka âmisterdregsâ Nord Electro 5D 73 Yamaha P105 Kurzweil PC3LE7 Motion Sound KP200S Schimmel 6-10LE QSC CP-12 Westone AM Pro 30 IEMs Rolls PM55P
MAJUSCULE
GAH. I tried to watch The Last Waltz the other night, only to discover that the DVD was gone. I think my brother took it to his house. I had to settle for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire instead. Cool clip though. Eric Website Gear page

zxcvbnm098
That chair was actually customized at the base to fit under the keyboards he used. While it looks like a basic office chair, it was really pretty stout underneath. This link has a great deal of info about his rig over the years.. http://theband.hiof.no/articles/ghs_keyboards_knz.html
Aidan
See, this is how I know I've not been paying close enough attention lately. I clicked the link and was looking for Garth in a deckchair.
