Waynester
Hi Guys playing my keyboard yesterday, in the middle of the keybed one of the keys is not right, you really have to hit it hard before you get the sound as you would hitting any of the other keys normally, if that makes sense? and then there is another key where you just hit very softly and its like you have hit it really hard!!!! too loud!! where can i take my X8 to get looked at? would i have to drive to Roland in Swansea here in the UK? this keyboard must be 4+ years old now, has served me well, must have done 350 gigs with it at least, and countless rehearsals.... i`m desperate to get this fixed, im based in Oxfordshire and i gig at least twice a week and rehearse once a week and play my board everyday.. i cant be without my X8 for too long, Aaarrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Roland Fantom X8 (SRX-04, SRX-07, SRX-11, SRX-12) - Yamaha Motif ES7 - Kawai MP11 - Hammond XK-1C - Korg TR Rack - Korg SG Rack - Quiklok Z72 - Quiklok SL930 - Electrovoice SXA360's
Ian Benhamou
This definitely sounds like your ribbon is broken. I had the same problem with my A-70 about 5 years ago. It's a very easy fix. I was able to bring it in to my local music shop and they fixed it for me for fairly cheap (Can't remember but something like $60). Best thing to do is send an email to Roland UK through their website asking about the closest Authorized Roland Dealer in your area and bring it there. My suggestion would be to contact Roland UK (I'm fairly sure there is a 'phone number on their website for 'Service Dept'). This (if you are at all technically-minded) could well be an easy-fix home job - but when (or if) you dismantle the 'board, make sure of where every screw/piece comes from, & fits back into the same position it came from If that fails, PM me 'cos I know of a good keyboard expert who will either give you good advice, or maybe travel to you to fix it.
