Tusker
Can you help me? I've got this melody in my head which I heard during the watchnight carol service tonight. It was played instrumentally during a moment of reflection so I don't know the lyrics, but it sounds more renaissance than any other period. It's so familiar I feel like I've heard it sung by CofE choirs when I was a kid. It's a little bit like Ave Verum Corpus (Byrd version) in that it's mostly minor but has a prominent piccardi third resolution in the melodic line. If it's in E minor the 4th melodic phrase would (in 6/8) resolve to major as follows ... e, d#, e, a, f#, tie, e# Am ......B7 ........E Any ideas? Thanks so much for your help, Jerry
Tusker
I found it ... Coventry Carol! [video:youtube]1khUv74ETHs The relief is stupendous. All I have to do is play this video 25 times and the appetite will sicken and so die!
Dave Horne
Do you need tabs for it? No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments.
Tusker
Sure. How about in E major? Do you have a three chord version?
