In a similar vein, I was talking to someone last night who had just returned from the U.S. He summed up the music scene as guys in jeans played great music to ten people and guys in rhinestone outfits playing to hundreds.

In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments.
