Chad Thorne
I'm a big fan of the TV show "Monk." When San Francisco is shown at night it always looks so luminescent and beautiful. does SF really look that way, or does creative cinematography help on the show? jeremy c
Hey, Chad. Monk is not filmed in S.F. (many shows are like that: Providence was not filmed in Providence. And in one of the scenes in the opening credits of that show, they are driving the wrong way on South Angell St.) They must have filmed all the outside shots at once and they keep using the same ones. On the show the other night, there was one scene in which it looked to me like the city background was projected on a screen behind the actors who weren't actually in the city. Often San Francisco is foggy at night. Not smoggy, foggy. It comes rolling in off the ocean and over the hills. I've played on the top floors of downtown hotels and had a great view, except everything below the first 30 floors was blanketed in fog. The city is beautiful, but it does not glow in the dark. What does Pittston, Maine look like? Is it on the ocean, in a forest, near a mountain, or farmland? Even though I grew up in R.I., I've never been to Maine. Free download of my cd!. Chad Thorne
Pittston is about 45 minutes from the coast, close enough that sometimes in the summer we catch a whiff of sea air if the wind is right. The picture at the coast is me with my pup, Dru. Pittston has largely been an agricultural community, historically. I'm sad to say that the nature of the town is changing; our proximity to the state capitol (15 mi.) and families needing to break up and sell off pieces of what were big farms for house lots is turning Pittston into suburbia. We will probably end up moving away at some point, probably further north where that process has not progressed as far. The other pics are just around our little farm. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/cft3/HPIM9113-1.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/cft3/HPIM9294.jpghttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/cft3/heritagetreecrop.jpghttp://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/cft3/mac5mobirthday101619.jpg
Bottom End
Nice pix, I love New England, and have been to Maine a few times. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful and exciting US cities. IT's a city that you can get around on foot, but the buses and trolleys are great. If I visit there , I park my car on arrival and leave it parked. IT's a great city where one nighborhood can be very different from the next. I can't beleive I haven't been back there for over 15 years. Hollywood does great tricks with cities, people from NYC and LA immediately notice that a guy a cop in the Bronx makes arrests in Battery Park. In LA, you know its a Hollywood production becuase the actor makes it across town in five minutes. "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song.
