In the sense that they sell sample sets to support Kontakt.

The paucity of improvements or add ons to EP and AP and use of Vienna material and now Scarbee pretty much tells me that sampling isn't their focus in the same way the Kore soundpacks are.

The real question is whether Komplete 6 will include the Scarbees as an upgrade/addition to EP and eventually AP.

I doubt it given Scarbee states "In the next 9 months all Scarbee products will be successively relaunched as self-contained instruments that will be maintained and distributed by Native Instruments":

I suspect Komplete 6 will be announced soon.

:thu: I've actually suggested this to NI in several surveys and email correspondance... I have the Scarbee KGB and Kontakt 3, those EP:s are the best I've come across. Great news!!!

Yes, great news.

Would make the decision buying Komplete 6 upgrade easier for me.

I would not expect integration into Komplete 6. Lots of sample sets have been available with a Kontact player without being added to Komplete. At most we might see a smaller sample set included, much like the rash of Garritan Personnel Orchestra subsets licensed to other products.

This post edited for speling.

That's my guess as well.

Wow, lots of news while I was away, and I'm making lots of typos today trying to rapidly cherry-pick my two regular user forums. :-)

I thought I'd already posted this, but it's interesting that the comments are similar to my own speculation about the impact of this move.

I had not thought, however, about how Scarbee might be put in charge of a follow-on to the very weak Akoustik Piano (I have some highly-pro friends who have gotten good results, but only after an extreme amount of tweaking of the raw samples).

I think this is awesome news all-around, both for NI's line and for Scarbee's libraries. It's true synergy at its best. NI is great at designing synths and VI's; Scarbee is great at programming libraries to be playable and musical. This frees up both companies to focus on what they do best.

I think the point is that they will be developing more specialised interfaces, which may or may not take even further advantage of KSP scripting to further improve the playability of the libraries.

Sometimes it's just a matter of more directly exposing parameters important to a particular instrument, so the user doesn't have to sift through several levels of the Kontakt editing interface to fine-tune things.

Also, it may be that the level of tweakability available increases significantly over loading the raw library in Kontakt.

But I know Akoustik Piano can be tweaked more in Kontakt than in its own standalone interface. So it's hard to say for sure.
