Ooohwee!! juicy loads of new amp/pedal modelers in Logic 9

As a Logic DAW user I gotta say I'm basically drooling over the new Logic 9 announcement and the quick listen to the demo sounds of the new guitar gear plugs.

Funny thing is the distorted Marshalls sound like crapsky to me, but that's the one amp that other modeling folk have gotten right.

These are some faves so far:

Cool! Glad to see the inclusion of the, ehrr, citric flavored "Sunshine" combo and head/stack juicers; do they allow for mixing and matching various virtual amps and cabs, as in, say, a virtual Marshall head into a virtual Fane-loaded Hiwatt cab? Well done virtual Orange and Hiwatt cabs and respective speaker models, among others, would be a very nice option to have on tap...

Now, couple some of that D/I modeling with something like that Sustainiac Model C* set for very mild, moderate touch of almost-but-not-quite-taking-off feedback, or a cranked (unmiced) cab/monitor of some kind to acoustically interact with the guitar, and it'll REALLY bring those models to life... !

Logic's first generation amp/cab/mic modeler allows for that, so I'm pretty much expecting the same for this one.

Good idear about the Sustainiac or cranked monitor for some real life interaction - and there's a nice low latency feature in Logic that can allow for that sorta thang. :D

Cool, cool. Like three little Fonzies. :thu:

Nice thing about the Sustainiac Model C is, latency is completely a NON-issue; the unit plugs in-between your guitar and whatever you'r going into- in this case, your computer recording rig- and taps off the signal to drive the transducer on the headstock, inducing sympathetic overtones and feedback through the guitar. The "straight" signal- albeit influenced by the acoustic vibrations hitting your guitar, just like amp/speaker feedback- would go from the Sustainiac to your recording input. Latency, schmatency! :D:thu:

It just adds a whole 'nother level of 3-D "air", organic feel, and realism to digital modeling processing!

Then stick a good octave-fuzz and wah in front of the computer input... :thu::D:cool:...Bliss...

Man those are some KILLER emulations! The leslie effect is the best I've heard. I would have thought it was a real Leslie recording if I didn't know otherwise.

I think they did a good job on the Vox models and most of the Fenders. A couple of the Fenders just missed the mark a bit. None of them sounded bad though.

The "brown" Marshall sounded pretty good too.

Good point - and same could be said for their other model.... er whatever it's called, the more uniform and polite, less raucous, less dangerous sounding pickup model I have. :D

The magnetic/pickup-based Stealth Pro (and the very similar Fernandez Sustainer) is cool and better in some ways for some things, but- well, different. The "Acoustic Feedback" style Model C is wilder and more like "natural" loud amp/speaker/room/guitar feedback, albeit a little less consistent and well-behaved.

Anyways, cool modeling!

I was jumping for joy when I saw the Logic 9 thing... I figured the amp modelers in GarageBand 09 were a sign of things to come in Logic--But then I saw that Logic 9 won't run unless you've got an Intel processor Mac... And me still squeezing a bit more time out of my G5... Next musical purchase, after a new backup drive, has to be a new Mac...

Sigh.

Seems like one of the amp models is trying pretty hard to be a Supro... That should be fun...
