picker Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Shredies look kind of interesting. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
miroslav Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 They would probably go well with some Depends... I guess if you have sweaty/sloppy hands...you might find the Shredies of some use...but it seems their main claim to fame is to eliminate any the friction between your hand and the neck. Personally...I prefer some controlled friction, as it allows you to anchor your hand more securely, especially if you are going to attack the strings with some more force or for strong bends (and that goes double with any heavier strings). But maybe if you just like to fly on the neck and do mostly touch-playing...yeah, Shredies with a pair of Depends will keep you dry and comfy at both ends as you smoke that neck and wet your pants! I think that its more gimmick than substance.cant see playing guitar with gloves on my hands. *shrug* miroslav - miroslavmusic.com "Just because it happened to you, it doesn't mean it's important."
picker Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 Wow, Miro, what do you really think of the people who would use 'em, eh? I'm beginning to think you should change your name to "Mirotroll", man. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
splitting hare Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 My drummer wife got a pair of these at the NAMM show last summer. She tried them out there and liked how they felt but to my knowledge, hasn't used them since - she normally wears gloves when playing. Reverbnation stuff More Reverbnation stuff I feel happy! I feel happy!
miroslav Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Wow, Miro, what do you really think of the people who would use 'em, eh? I'm beginning to think you should change your name to "Mirotroll", man. I think you need to breathe a bit before you post, Picker. It will give you time to tell the difference between tongue-in-cheek kidding and personal slams that are directed at specific people. There's a thread about Malmsteen right now that's had a LOT more serious negative commentary about shredders and about very specific people...maybe you should go over there and make up names for some of those posters. Oh waityou made a joke comment about gay metalheads on that thread so would that make you Pickertroll??? Yes...I think the idea of wearing gloves to play guitar is kinda' weird...but YMMV, and I did say it might help people with sweaty/sloppy hands. AFA as the Depends comments...it's just some fun-poking at shredders who like to over-wank when they play. So yeah...chill out dude...don't immediately ratchet things up to a serious level miroslav - miroslavmusic.com "Just because it happened to you, it doesn't mean it's important."
picker Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 Actually, Miro, given your history with yanking people's chains around here, maybe you ought to ratchet it down a few notches for while if you want your "tongue-in-cheek kidding" to be taken a little be less seriously. I think you advice about taking a breath before responding would be well taken on you end, brah. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Caevan O'Shite Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 (Hey- get a Hockey Rink, guys!) Personally, for me, I think the gloves would get in my way and catch on strings or mute and damp 'em when I wouldn't want 'em muted or damped, even with the fingerless design. They look a little too loose 'n' baggy to me, maybe a more streamlined, stretch-fit design would be conducive to playing snag-free? And, what are they made of, what makes 'em more special than any cheap cloth glove that you or I might take some scissors to? Are they Gortex lined? (Maybe the Elixer string people (same as Gortex) aughtta be making gloves to make strings last longer?) Twenty bucks (OK, $19.90) for one pair? $44.85 for three pairs, "free shipping"? Hmmnn, if I wanted such a thing, I think I'd be considerin' those cheapies and lookin' for my shop-shears... On the one hand... that being, the fretting-hand... I have worked at not having so much of a "death-grip" on the neck and keeping some space between my hand and the back of the neck, and trying to maintain a somewhat Classical-style posture thereabouts. I often notice that I'm even playing with my thumb sticking up away from the neck on the treble-side of the neck, making no contact with the back of the neck, only some on the side- but that's just automatic, not on purpose, when reaching for some things, particularly when way up high in the upper-registers where the frets are close-together. No friction or sweaty-stickiness problems then! And, on the other hand... "Today, I wouldnt think of playing a gig without my Shredies anymore than I would think of playing without my pick." ...I don't use picks, either! I've gotta say, though, that their "Owner's Manual" is pretty funny: __ http://www.shredies.com/images/manual.jpg Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do? ~ Caevan James-Michael Miller-O'Shite ~ _ ___ _ Leprechaun, Esquire _ ___ _
miroslav Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Like I saidchill out, Picker. There was NO mean-spirited attack on my part to justify your subsequent name-calling or the history dredging. (We all have some historyyou included). As I pointed out, there are other threads with WAY more fun-poking at shredders and metalheads (you participated in them also)and there are even some real nasty comments being made by some people. All I did was poke a little fun at over-the-top shreddersnothing more. I haven't been mean/nasty to anyoneespecially not to you. Up to this point, I think we can chalk all of this up to post misinterpretationwhich happens a lot around here. We all do it. Im not looking to escalate, Picker, as I have NO bad blood with you (even in looking back at history)and I dont see any point in starting now. Lets just move onthis is not that significant for us to butt heads over. miroslav - miroslavmusic.com "Just because it happened to you, it doesn't mean it's important."

miroslav Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Peace bro! There are NO hard feelings here...NONE! I've put my foot in my mouth many times on these threads...AND...I too could use some Depends when I over-wank my guitar playing and wet my pants! miroslav - miroslavmusic.com "Just because it happened to you, it doesn't mean it's important."
