Speaking of bands ...

... It seems I'm also about to get back into the trenches of playing live again. After more than 10 years solo it's a bit scary, but equally exciting to be back out there playing with a group. It's an established covers 10-piece funk outfit (4 in the horn section, yeah!) which plays quite a few JB tunes and a couple of other funk standards. They do mostly corporate stuff along with a few regular club and occasional wedding/party gigs.

I'll be the singer (easy on the wise-ass cracks :) ) and supplementary keys player - the main keyboardist turned up at my audition with a Nord Stage.

Anyway, wish me luck and I'll keep you posted on developments.

You're way past luck, Cliff.

You rock.

Whenever I think of Cliff, I always think, damn, I wish he lived here. I'd have you singing on tons of stuff.

Good luck with the new band.

Hehe, thanks Griff - yeah helluva scary . Still, all my experience has been as a frontman (keys came afterwards) so hopefully I'll cut it :D .

Ahh, singer gone instrumentalist, gotcha. Same here, although I started much younger than most on both counts.

My problem was I couldn't keep from blowing my throat halfway through the gig, no matter what I was singing...
