Cliffk Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 ... It seems I'm also about to get back into the trenches of playing live again. After more than 10 years solo it's a bit scary, but equally exciting to be back out there playing with a group. It's an established covers 10-piece funk outfit (4 in the horn section, yeah!) which plays quite a few JB tunes and a couple of other funk standards. They do mostly corporate stuff along with a few regular club and occasional wedding/party gigs. I'll be the singer (easy on the wise-ass cracks ) and supplementary keys player - the main keyboardist turned up at my audition with a Nord Stage. Anyway, wish me luck and I'll keep you posted on developments. YouTube music
Griffinator Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 You're going to front the bloody thing? Good luck to you, sir. I've tried the frontman gig, and it sucks. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
Cliffk Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 Hehe, thanks Griff - yeah helluva scary . Still, all my experience has been as a frontman (keys came afterwards) so hopefully I'll cut it . YouTube music
kanker. Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Yeah, I think you can sing a little A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.
ITGITC Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Anyway, wish me luck and I'll keep you posted on developments. You're way past luck, Cliff. You rock. "Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent." - Victor Hugo
linwood Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Whenever I think of Cliff, I always think, damn, I wish he lived here. I'd have you singing on tons of stuff. Good luck with the new band.
Joe Muscara Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Good luck and have much fun, Cliff! "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Hoo hoo!" - Daffy Duck "The good news is that once you start piano you never have to worry about getting laid again. More time to practice!" - MOI

Same here, although I started much younger than most on both counts. My problem was I couldn't keep from blowing my throat halfway through the gig, no matter what I was singing... A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.
