Yeah, now I'm trying to not be a deer in the headlights blinking stupidly, and think of some questions to ask while I've got the chance! :freak::D

Well...you could ask why they gave up making amps...which were IMO the big draw for Reverend.

They made some sweet amps, like the Goblin and the Kingsnake

But hey...its nice to see that Korean made guitars are getting some interest/respect on guitar forums. :thu:

Reverend guitars were always cool looking IMOthough when they switched to overseas production, a lot of folks balked.

But it looks like many are coming around.

Speaking of Reverend guitarsI just go a $30 rebate in my email that is effective until September 20.

I'm busy mixing a concert that afternoon, but could somebody ask him to make the rosewood fingerboard available on the sunburst finish solid bodies. Seriously. Even though they're bolt-ons a Reverend rep told me they wouldn't or couldn't do any combinations that aren't on the website, (which means only maple fingerboards with sunburst) & that's a bit of a drag, IMO.

Thank you much, Caevan. I just hope he doesn't say they can't afford to make special request combinations or expand the available options at their current very reasonable price point.

Looking forward to the full report.

I was gonna ask a similar enough question, myself. It'll also ride piggy-back to said "chat" like many a classic "blackface" head 'n' cab...

OK-

While I'm gonna be erstwhile detained during this myself, I've forwarded your posted questions to a reliable person who, most likely, will be certain to post 'em by proxy for us...

I'll be back with links for it all in the near future. (Provided it's something that'll be archived in one way or another for later perusal!)

Scott Fraser, on rosewood fretboards on some models- Joe Naylor's answer: "Well, ya know, you can't do everything." (seemingly meant good-naturedly).

And dead mike, on making any phenolic guitars again- Joe Naylor's answer: "Nope. No demand. We no longer have the machines, even the rim mold is in disrepair."

(Mr. Naylor had previously told another questioner that there would be no new USA models, nor a "Custom Shop", so I left USA manufacture out of the question on phenolic models.)

Don't feel bad, dead mike- one guy was asking Joe if he'd make him a custom-ordered aluminum/phenolic Reverend guitar like a particularly rare one someone else has, going so far as to say "money's no object" (and I'm certain that it was the truth), and Joe still politely declined, stating that they just can't, that any and all of the required tooling and equipment is either gone or in disrepair.

....... why they gave up making amps...which were IMO the big draw for Reverend.

They made some sweet amps, like the Goblin and the Kingsnake

You know when I was Best Boy on The Shield in 2003, the Key Grip had a Reverend amp and I thought it was just okay. I had heard so much about them I was excited when I walked in on day one and saw he had one set up in our office. We had a jam room as well and I got to play through it. It was a very basic amp. In fact I had to fix it for him. it had a broken wire......I forget if it was on the input jack or the speaker output.....all a blur now. But I remember looking at the innards thinking it looked really cheap in there.

Just what I saw. I don't remember what amp it was other than it was a 40/60 combo I think and had UK and US settings...I forget..... he had an extension speaker also Reverend.

It sounded decent, I just did not get the buzz about them.

I never played one...but there were a lot of folks around here at one time (many that went HC Forums) that had nothing but good things to say about them.

I think Bill@WelcomeHomeStudios had a Goblin at one time.

So....I don't know why there was such a buzz if they weren't pretty decent....?

I don't think they were "boutique" grade...but everyone liked how they sounded...and I think they also used some custom speakers.

Dunno, maybe his was just not so good or something, an amp lemon. I remember the tolex looked cool, it was like engraved in a pattern and yes I do believe he mentioned something about the speaker in it being something special. LOL I had my crappy Fender Twin there and it sounded better overall to my ear and others also...granted I had to put a Tube Screamer in front of it to make it sound good.

I had a Goblin, and it was a spooky gadget that broke down several times in weird ways. I was glad to trade it off for something else. But I cannot say anything against Joe Naylor. He was the guy who answered the phone when I called their company to see what could be done for the amp, and he was always very cooperative and easy to talk to. I wish the customer service at other places I have contacted was a good.

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

That amp would have been the Hellhound which got an Editors Choice award here.

My Goblin came with a brokern reverb tank, sent me another it it was broken, i got mad and sent my amp to him to have it fixed. I got all the money i spent on shipping plus a little more off on a guitar i bought through him. Once the reverb was sorted out nothing else has gone wrong with the amp and i use it everyday. Love it and the customer service is second to none. I believe this amp also got a great review in the mag, for 550 bucks pretty hard to beat.

Thanks for posting!

Though I own two Reverend guitars I haven't been keeping up, and so was unaware of the new models. I'm especially intrigued by the Pete Anderson:

Thanks for asking him. I was afraid he'd say that. I just don't understand why a bolt-on guitar only has a rosewood fingerboard available on the black body & a maple fingerboard on the sunburst body. Seems pretty darn easy to me to unscrew one & put it on the other. Then again, I'm not in the guitar selling business, so I'm sure he has his reasons.

That's pretty interesting. It's not on their website yet.
