fingertalkin Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 To see AC/DC on tour after the release of their new album? They are on my short list of "must see" bands before I/they die. They actually may be the last band on that list other than Pink Floyd. I don't think that is going to happen huh? Maybe in the next life. How do you sign a computer screen?
Cthulhu Fhtagn Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Not so much. Was a big Bon Scott fan ... never really clicked with them after he died. I noticed that there are 5,000,000 songs available for download on both Napster and Rhapsody and none of those 5,000,000 songs are done by AC/CD. The band I'm auditioning for has four on their set list and I will need to buy at least two CD. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn
fingertalkin Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 I usually try to find the karaoke versions of songs on Napster. Or I type the name of the song and see if it comes up. I am a huge AC/DC fan so I am stoked. How do you sign a computer screen?
Luke73 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The band I'm auditioning for has four on their set list and I will need to buy at least two CD. What's wrong with buying them? ....you don't have to buy the whole CDs you know. Just buy the songs you need. There are a plethora of legal sources to purchase individual songs. http://www.myspace.com/twoshortrocks
Slinky P Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I'm not that stoked for AC/DC but I'm stoked to see Metallica They released an album and are touring again too. And their new album sounds like their older stuff (or at least the new single does) so i'm looking foward to the album release but not as much as seeing them live. "there ain't no faux mojo" jcadmus
b5pilot Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 That's cool! I always did like them. We used to do a few of their songs back in the day when we had a guy named "Spud" as our singer. He did a good job on those AC/DC tunes. Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it. http://www.myspace.com/theeldoradosband
5 string Mike Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Seeing AC/DC would rock- so would the Floyd. They might be gray haired old guys, but they can still rock out better than most. I bet if the Floyd ever go out again, the nosebleed seats would be a mortgage payment, especially if Roger went out with them. At least they are on speaking terms, that's an accomplishment in itself. Bottom End Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 AC/DC is one of the few bands that I would pay top dollar to see, is the tour schedule out? "Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.'-Hamlet Guitar solos last 30 seconds, the bass line lasts for the whole song.
Brocko777 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 That will be a straight ahead rock n roll show... no filler. Don't have a job you don't enjoy. If you're happy in what you're doing, you'll like yourself, you'll have inner peace. ~ Johnny Carson
jeremy c Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I'd rather see AC/DShe, an all-girl tribute band. They're playing in San Francisco a week from Saturday night. Too bad I'm working that night. Free download of my cd!.
Mr. Bizarro Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Another all-female tribute band is Hell's Belles. They've been in my area a couple of times. I'd still rather see the original band, regardless of how few original members are still with it. Here's a tip: Try to eat everything. You'd be surprised how much is edible.
Davo-London Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 There was a Metallica documentry on UK terrestrial TV the other night and I was fascinated. I know nothing about them and that heavy thrash is not my thing but it was still fascinating. The band reckon that the music is back to their roots and they are still full of energy even though they are older. Davo "We will make you bob your head whether you want to or not". - David Sisk
jar546 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 ACDC 8s kicking off their tour in my area with 2 shows from what I've been told. I think I will have to go to one of them for sure. "The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know" by Me
jcadmus Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 I recently bought the remastered '78 live set "If you want blood..." and I'm stunned at how really good it is. "Tours widely in the southwestern tip of Kentucky"
fingertalkin Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 I've seen Metallica countless times. They kick major ass. Robert Trujillo is a freak. He has fingers of lightning and his stage show is....well.....crazy. My first take on the new song that I have heard on the radio is that they are trying to hard to sound how they did before. Unfortunately for them, they will always have to live up to the albums pre Load. I like all of the albums (yes, even a few tracks off of St. Anger) but they are not allowed by the fans to get out of the box they created. What would they sound like had Cliff not been killed. Who knows? I don't know about them anymore. I will go see them on Jan. 15 even though I said I would never go to an indoor concert again. I am hoping to have press passes. New guitarist works for newspaper and has gotten some cool passes before. Bands like Trivium have sort of taken Metallica's place. Their version of Master of Puppets is phenominal. It is a note for note jobby, but it is great. The drummer is fantastic. I think Lars is holding them back. He is not moving forward and I think it is hindering what could be. I was amazed that I could actually hear bass on the new song though! How do you sign a computer screen?
mondoray Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Have most Bon era AC/DC albums ('powerage' being my fave). Have seen 'em a few times. Best time? Highway to hell tour.Front row. Worst time? 1991 Donington! Metallica could've headlined, but asked AC/DC to. Once 'Sandman' came on there was no stopping Metallica. Ironically a couple of years ago AC/DC released 'live at donington ' on dvd. It got loads of acclaim, but I didn't think much of 'em then. Been watching Metallica from Ride the lightning tour to present. Worst time seeing them ? Load tour earls court. Best time?Probably puppets tour with Anthrax'86. My friend managed to get me tkt for 02 gig in a couple of weeks. Whoopee! 1977fender telecaster bass . Washburn status, ch guitar 8 string , schecter elite diamond series 5 string. Steinberger xm2 custom.the list goes on..
slowfinger Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Well we claim AccaDacca as our own. This fine video clip has them playing on the back of a truck driving though Melbourne. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=wxP9fOMLE_8 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_A_Long_Way_To_The_Top They are supposed (rumours) to be playing here around the end of the year so maybe I'll have a look.
