Helge L Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hi fellow bassists! Long time, no see... In my last post some years ago, i should have said: "I'll be back!" Well, here I am, and wondering if any have some experience with the Markbass TA-501. I consider swap it with my Ashdown ABM 500. I still use my Eden 210 and 212 cab's. My main bass is the good old T-Bass. reg's Helge Lund Norway "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace" .- Jimi Hendrix
b5pilot Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hi Helge! I'm not too well versed in Markbass products other than the ones I've tried seem very good. Keep your Eden cabs though. What I am curious about is - What's a T-bass? Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it. http://www.myspace.com/theeldoradosband
DavidMPires Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 T-bass is the fantastic bass made by status for Trace elliot in 1998, and i've been looking for one in natural since but i couls never find one. What colour is yours? www.myspace.com/davidbassportugal "And then the magical unicorn will come prancing down the rainbow and we'll all join hands for a rousing chorus of Kumbaya." - by davio
Helge L Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Hi! My T-bass is a '95 modell. One of the first..! It has an awesome tone and playability. The neck is slim and fast playable and got dual graphite inlays for stability. And it sure is stable. I'll try to submit a picture: http://home.no.net/helu/t-bass_1.jpg "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace" .- Jimi Hendrix

Helge L Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 I will call the intrument pusher first thing tomorrow and order the TA-501 for test, and then we'll see what I'll do! But I've played it in shops in Oslo, and I don't think the test period is going to be long... "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace" .- Jimi Hendrix
Ironstorm Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hello Mr Helge L welcome back! I just traded my Ashdown EVOII 500 Head and two Ashdown cabs 2x10 and 1x15 for a new bass in with the trade I also recieved a Genz-Benz 1x12T now I am running a Genz-Benz Neo-Pak 3.5 and two Neox 1x12T cabs. I tryed most of the Mark Bass heads. Assumeing your bass is active I tryed these heads useing my Alembic and my Warrior Signature both active as I am sure you know in my opinion the Genz-Benz blew it away hands down I know you can pick one up on EBAY U.S. as for the new Genz-Benz shuttle 6.0 or 3.0 in my opinion they just dont have the balls the Neo-Pak 3.5 has it might cost a little more money but I feel it is worth it. Good luck in your search. Davo-London Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 There is a huge amount of reviews about GB and MB products. They certainly will be a lot smaller and lighter than your Ashdown head. BUT, how do they sound? That's the key question and only one that you can answer yourself Helge. As an aside I've visited Norway many times including Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim and I'm a big fan. As an another aside "pusher" is generally used for drug dealers. "Dealer" would be more appropriate Stick around and tell us a little more about yourself and what music you play. Cheers Davo "We will make you bob your head whether you want to or not". - David Sisk
