DracheCool Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 My friend bought a Peavey Vypyr 30 tonight at GC for 200 bucks. I haven't had a chance to invade his house and check it out yet, but the stuff I have seen about it on the web looks good. Looks to be made to compete with Line 6, and I know that Peavey is a good brand because I am in possession (but not ownership...yet) of a Classic 30 and it is awesome. I understand they are making some of these in both SS and tube versions. (The 30 is only in SS.) Anyone messed around with one of these yet? Christopher www.myspace.com/EYESUPONUS
Gifthorse Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I messed with the 15 watt solid state one and wasn't impressed. I didn't expect to be really. I am really curious about the tube one with the tube power and pre section. I wasn't impressed with the effects on the 15 watter, but it IS only $100.. Also I think trying to beat Line6 at what they do may not work out like they planned.. But who knows, I will wait until I try one of the tube models. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse
picker Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I played on of the Vyper 70s this afternoon at my local GC. It had some cool tones. But, I would need to tweak it a bit before I would want to use it, and tweaking tones on modeling gear is when the patches aways fall apart for me. I don't know if this one would or not, but that's the way it's always gone for me with modeling gear in the past. Oh. and it's very loud. no problems gigging with it. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
