Semi-OT: My Flash Fetish....

I made a Flash player on My Flash Fetish (.com) and couldn't get it to embed on Facebook. It did work as a "popout player". I'm just wondering if it's an actual page that will remain in their servers, accessible via hotlink or if only I can see it as its creator.

Would someone check it out and let me know if you can hear the two songs?

Thanks! And thanks for letting me know it works. Now... If I can only figure out if it's "permanently" stored at that address... Hmmm....

Due to a mutual arrangement with another family at Lilly's school I drop her at their house and drop their oldest at school on my way to work. It puts me in the office over an hour early. I pulled my guitar, an Oktava MK319 large diaphragm condeser mic and an MXL Mic Mate interface and had some fun in the front lobby of the office. I added some compression and reverb but no eq. Oh... and the playing is inconsistent but I had fun doing it. Oh.. and then there's the out of tune string on Song For George. :o

Looks like I'll have more time to make recordings now that I'll have extra time in the mornings. ;)

YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the tone you got!

Is the first one yours or someone else? Is that first one Don Ross?

I like the EJ cover too, you should write your own like it now you have the skills down! The meter and feel is tough on that one, I know I've tried it myself. I think he's got lighting pluckers!

You are too kind, guys! Thanks!

Thanks, Stamplicker!

Ramp, I'm loving this guitar. It's the Blueridge acoustic. Even with the addition of an L.R. Baggs Ribbon p'up, preamp and professional setup by John LeVan, one of Nashville's finest luthiers, it was still under $500, 10 years ago. I've been checking out a set of Cleartone coated strings. I like the tonality but I need the correct gauges. The nearest they had a the NAMM booth was a "Bluegrass" set.. Heavy bottom. The problem is I don't want major surgery on the instrument so I've been fighting really annoying intonation issues on the low E string. The tuning for Ragamuffin is DADGAD and song for George is in DADGBD, aka Double drop-D tuning.

The signal chain is as follows:

Blueridge Guitar -> Oktava MK319 mic -> MXL Mic Mate A/D converter -> PC running Reaper recording software. After recording I added compression to even out the dynamics a bit and a large hall reverb at low level, both from free, Kjaerhus Audio plug-ins. Rendered to a 256kbps CBR mp3. I deliberately kept away from eq. I wanted to see what the room and mic would provide. (The lobby is a 20' x 30' room with hardwood floors. The long hallway off it is offset from the center of a long wall and I deliberately pointed the mic at me down the hall to reduce reflections a bit. Of course, my body was blocking most of the hallway.)

Enough detail or need I add pictures of my all natural picks on the ends of my fingers. ;)

Terrell, The first is Michael Hedges' Ragamuffin. You need to hear the original. There are many subtleties I can't recreate that currently separate my rendition from Michael's. What I'd give to have a half hour to speak to Michael Hedges and play guitar. Alas, he died in a car wreck a decade ago. :( Regarding EJ's Song For George, thanks! I'm still learning to pick some of those parts smoothly. What the heck, it's only been 15 years I've sporadically worked on it. Bad habits die hard once you establish a personal way to play a particular song, no? (sigh)

Hearing your playing just now Neil, the term "MOFO!" sprung to mind, triggering a full mofo alert of the 3rd order.

That is some snappy and snazzy acoustic goodness! :thu:

Just a pinch between the geek and chum

I have it, but haven't listened to it in a year or so. So, I couldn't place it. Thanks... Sounds great again!

+1 On the Quad-Venti-MOFO Thing!

Thanks guys... I guess I just don't have that high a regard for my own playing. Glad you're enjoying it!

Ramp, it's a Blueridge BR-0MS. (That's BR-[zero]MS ;) )

Here's a photo...

All the new Blueridge instruments I found listed had 2 and 3 digit model numbers behind "BR" or "BG" with the last number almost always being a "0" (Ie. BR-40, BR-160) I don't know if my exact model is still available. An old listing from Elderly instruments had a VG-EC condition BR-0MS for $175!!. (It's been sold! :( ) The cool thing about this rather ordinary looking dreadnought is it sports a solid spruce top. Not bad for an instrument that sold new less than $300! :thu:
