RD700-GX with Yamaha MS60S

anybody is using this combination?

I have to cut the middle frequencies from 500-800 Hz completely (-12(!)dB), otherwise the Yamaha active monitors MS60S sound distorted horrible, even at a low volume level with nearly all sounds, but especially with the One Touch pianos.

Not with a GX, but I use a Yamaha MS60S regularly as one half of a stereo set-up with my Fantom-X rack and have no issues. My Yamaha MS60S is 15 years old, has had one recone, been kicked around the block and dropped from a height onto the pavement more than once, and remains solid, and, imo, one of the best small speakers I've found in terms of the clarity of sound, helped by their old ('90s) ported bass technology. The newer 60W Yamaha powered speaked sounds shit by comparison. If I were you I'd have someone with a little technical knowledge have a look at it, or maybe just unscrew the cover yourself and check the speaker cones are intact and nothing's loose.
