probert Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Hi, I need to buy an 88 keys stage keyboard weight keys. I just want basic sounds, but I need it not too heavy (i have a heavy roland fp8!) since I'll carry it quite often. Could someone advise me some models? Thanks in advance.
delirium Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 RD300GX would be perfect for you. ♫♫♫ motif XS6, RD700GX
SilverDragonSoun Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 The Casio Privia Series has a few options to choose from and they will be easier on your wallet but lack some of the higher end features of the RD300GX. If you just want some basic sounds and 88 keys, the RD300GX may be more than you want to spend. Begin the day with a friendly voice A companion, unobtrusive - Rush
timwat Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Probert: Welcome to the forum. Lots of helpful folks here, but some clarification might be useful first. What does "basic sounds" mean to you, and what is a target weight? The more info you provide, the narrower set of suggestions you'll get. ..

bhodaway10 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Welcome to the forum! You're going to have to define "basic keyboard sounds" like Tim mentioned. There are plus/minuses to each board. Everybody has their own opinions but here are mine : Nord Stage : Light board (40lbs), heavy price tag, great organ and ep's, piano is good but to me not what I needed for what I play (jazz) Yamaha CP30 - pretty good piano, light weight (39 lbs), realistic piano touch IMHO, middle of the road EP, and an organ I wouldn't use Roland FP4 - light weight (33 lbs), nice piano samples, a touch that was for me, a little light, speakers (where is Jazz+ BTW?) Roland RD300gx - 36 lbs, the touch was a little "harder" than the FP4, nice board.... I haven't tried the Kurzweil SP2x but I keep hearing that Kurzweil's pianos are top notch. I would say try them all if you can @ a local store!! Good luck! B. www.brianho.net http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/brianho www.youtube.com/brianhojazz
