Karl Sutton Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 is this the poor man's 360? Yamaha P22 Upright / Nord Stage 2 SW73
Legatoboy Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I have two that I use with a Crown Power Base 1 amp mostly. I've had them for a while now, about 8 years. I recommended the EV (brand's) 'balanced' sound here on the forum because of my SX100+ rig. Some people eventually bought 360's who were un- familiar with EV's especially on the west cost for some reason as an option to the Accugroove's. Be aware the SX100's are not the 360's but I guess the quality of tone from them is similar. I have never tried the EV 360's or the Accugrooves. I use the SX100's in stereo for large stage shows about 3 times a year and I have gotten a very good stage DP sound out of them. I run the rig in stereo with either a Crown PB-1 or a Hafler 1600 (a bit underpowered for the SX100's but a good reference amp. where detail of sound is important at lower volumes) I can recommend them! I think EV's are perfect my piano sound. Though I don't use many synth sounds, my CP300 EP's, clav's and synth accordion sound great with them. I generally use my CP300 for those large theater gigs/stages with a Rolls Hex-Mix mixer, (the dreaded) BBE 362 & sometimes a Samson dual 15 EQ also. lb CP-50, YC 73, FP-80, PX5-S, NE-5d61, Kurzweil SP6, XK-3, CX-3, Hammond XK-3, Yamaha YUX Upright, '66 B3/Leslie 145/122
timwat Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 In this case the forum search function works. Jazz+ posted this on May 8th: "The higher price of the SXa360 is because they use better sounding (and more expensive) components than the less-expensive SXa models. The SXa100 does not sound like the SXa360, it's not as clear, detailed or as smooth sounding. I was disappointed with it. Although I liked it better than the Mackie SRM-450." ..
