I must decide NOW between these two configurations.

GK 700RBii + 2 x GKNEO212 = 480W or..

GK 1001RBii + GKNEO212 = 450W

The difference in sound justify the difference in price and the minus for carriying another cab ?

If you buy the GK 1001, you can always add another cab.

You've been trying to decide this for months !!

I hope it gets resolved soon!

i will tell you this. two 212 cabinets will be louder than one 212 cabinet. a lot louder.

robb.

...correct.... two 2x12 cabinets at 480watts will be extremely loud!

Certainly louder than one 2x12 at 450w.

The difference between 450 and 480w is nothing, but the extra cab will make a huge difference.

The question is how much volume will you need?

Well Tom, I am member here since 2002, fan of the "search" button, I am a reader than a writer, my poor english it's a fact.

I can't believe Argentina can beat those nigerians, really really busy n' boring game.

I can't believe my GK rig is in my house.

First, I unplug the cord of the laundry machine and swap by the 1001 AC cord. This beast is hungry in terms of energy. The 212 and the head shine outside in the garden under the 1:30 PM sun of the incoming spring. Hot, very hot sun. Pots all straight to the sky, everything seems flat, no filters. The sound of my 74P w/Flats holds me in the entire body, involving me in THE sound.

Fat sound, crispy harmonics. I'd play a little with the boost/woofer knob, also with the gain input. Never clip. Now boost and Woofer at 3 o clock. Nasty sensations in my stomach, a little headache produced by those lower hertz. Passing this level the Boost/Woofer won't help. The pikes produced by hitting the frets a la Entwistle or hard slap overdrive the woofers in a nasty way. Time to go back. 3 o clock. I must stop a little due the weird low sensation in my body. You can't say from where the sound is coming. Take a break. A far neighbour shout: "Para loco !! ". First challenge: approved. Another cab must be for torture purposes only.

Poor information in the manual: GK forgot to caution about the windows and china in the user house. I lost some cups.

Thank you Tom, thank you all people, thanks Talkbass Amps section, thanks GK community forum.

Glad you've made your decision and are happy with your G-K 1001, Belazaras.

Yep, those critters draw a lot of current, but put out a lot of sound in return.

As you experiment with it, keep in mind that the "flat" setting for the Contour and Presence controls is all the way off, not straight up.

My personal settings vary with my mood, but in most band situations this seems to work for me: Contour and Presence full off, all other EQ straight up, and Boost at 3 o'clock or lower. Your taste may dictate something different.

G-K are a real tight punchy amp, I have a GK 400RB driving a

2-15" cab. at my band practice site, I generally leave it flat

except for a minor tweaking depending on the Bass I bring....

I usually drive it with a Sansamp PBDI, I have my main

tone, a dubby bass heavy sound & a Dist. driven hard tone for

when it needs it ! The GK puts it all out ~ no complaints !
