Fumblyfingers
That just sucks!! He was way too young...dang I am only a few years off myself. Friggen scary man.....way beyond time to get in shape and start taking care of the machine. This sucks....I really wanted to meet him one day...I have admired him for so long. I loved his work with Jimi and I have had his double solo album on vinyl since it came out.The closest I got in the 6 degree's of separation is I worked with Barry Goldberg from Electric Flag a little. Wow...it makes me wonder who is next? I am pretty sad about this one....damn! Shit I just looked at his icon in my friends listing at my MySpace yesterday or the day before. I have him as my second highest friend....I looked at it and had a thought I should visit his site but I was busy with other stuff.
Quixotica
Sad to hear that Buddy is gone. He was one of the greats. Everyone knows about his great work with Band of Gypsys but you might also check out the live album he did with Santana. It's pretty much a hour-long latin-jazz jam session with Buddy keeping the beat and Carlos (along with Neil Schon, I think) surfing across the top of it... Pretty cool! Bejeeber
Whoa! WTF!!!??? I didn't see that one coming either. A deeply soulful gentleman indeed. He'n Jimi will need a bassist up there. Zephyr
No!!! He had such an amazing vocal repetoire. He really gave Jimi a new feel, and I personally liked The Gypsys more than the Experience. In his memory, this seems appropriate: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qJ-qKb1FKX4 Never argue with an idiot. picker
My favorite Buddy Miles tune was his version of Neils Young's "Down By The River". Sad to hear he passed on. Hope he was ready. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
