In the jam and in the moment

Have you ever played with a bass player alone. Trying to write a riff for a song. And then you guys just play something and you stick with it for hours. And thats all you play and you jump around expirementing? Well thats what i did. I feel like its meant to be. All because this song went together so good. Any one else ever did this?
--This is probably the best not to mention the worst idea that i have ever known--

ellwood.. with a small E

:rawk::thu: Road Hog band Rocks, great job.

what was this thread about originally? Oh yeah, Yes, Done that before. I remember this drummer friend of mine back in the Bay Area was trying for the longest time to get me to go over and jam with this guy he has been telling me about and I was putting it off for the longest time cause I was already playing bass in a band and didn't have the time, or so I thought. We hooked up and it was magic>me on bass and Billy on guitar, funny thing, after that we got rid of my bud playing the drums, he just wasn't into it. I have some recordings but have been reluctant to post them out of respect for Billy, (Billy wrote the songs) and I don't have permission to post them.

What can this strange device be?

When I touch it, it gives forth a sound

It's got wires that vibrate, and give music

What can this thing be that I found?

Ellwood - I'm waiting for your version of Blue Collar to be posted.

That's right Caprae! We don't do that one very often, but it's such a great tune...I'll see what I can do!! :thu:

Darn, I'm not finding a happy dancing icon!!!

JCM 800's sound awesome! You have the total Gibbons tone.

I know what your saying to the original poster. I think that is teh coolest way to write. As a band. You just magically come up with something ou7t of nowhere and then craft a song.

I did that this winter with a song called Tumbleweed that will be on our CD. I was thinking of a cool cowboy type riff and then my other guitarist started to play over the finger thing I was doing and we had the basic format 10 min later.

Love to Jam! My wife and another couple are hosting one the August 18th. It's our 14th year!

I have hours of tape from over the years jamming, where the bass player or I has a hook, the drummer joins in, and off we go.

Also, Jam on Lee!!!!!!!!! Way to let it out and Jam! The first tune sounds like great fun, loved the Third Stone and Freeway Jam references. Who was singing My Babe? Great strat tone on that one.

Once I thought I saw you, in a crowded, hazy, bar........

I bet Jimi and Jeff wouldn't mind.....

Great clip, ellwood....you guys rock. Your live clips of The Road Hog Band are good examples to show where your dedication to your band, to getting the music right, putting together good equipment and gear, etc. etc. do in fact pay off! There's no one way to "get it right". But, your way seems to have been very effective!! You have a right to be proud of you and your band's work.

Keep the clips comming!! WE LOVE HEARING LIVE RECORDINGS!! :rawk:
