Mike Bear
Some of my favorite keyboard bass is from Johansen, Johansen, and Holdsworth's "Heavy Machinery" album. Then again, I heard a great keyboard bass tone and playing at a restaurant a few weeks back. I swear I thought it was real bass for an hour until I looked. ...
Thanks for that, sir Phil. Great playing all around in that clip. (how long will it be on this thread before someone mentions Stevie Wonder's left hand? Oops, I just did)
Phil W
Well Stevie got it all from James Jamerson as I'm sure you know. Other great keyboard bassists: Jimmy Smith, Larry Young and the best of all - Joe Zawinul: I'm sure I heard once that Miles hired Joe for his basslines. http://philwbass.com
Rocky McDougall
I'm not very familiar with different keyboards, is there a specific type just for bass? What is the proper name for it? Phil W
There are many synths which can be used to play basslines, moog analogue synths are very popular. A great keyboard bass could comne from a piano though or especially an organist's feet. http://philwbass.com

Phil W
That's definitely the session great Chris Chaney (Alanis Morrisette, Janes Addiction, Celene Dion, Carly Simon, Shakira)! He writes in BP. Strangely, I don't know many blond bass players! Hey, I just read that he went to my wife's old high school in Marin County! http://philwbass.com
TimR
... Strangely, I don't know many blond bass players! ... If its any consolation, I USED to be blond. Well untill I was 24 anyway. 57pbass
I have played with a few Hammond B 3 guys - the B 3 produces some of my favorite bass sounds... and these guys did an amazing job covering basslines... with their feet : ( www.danielprine.com

StuBass
True...Stevie's influence was Jamerson (and Babbitt to some extent), and Pino credits Jamerson AND Stevie for influencing his bass lines!!!... StuBass
