Justin Timberlake...does anyone else find him...annoying?

I usually don't pay much attention to the R&B/Pop crowd...that whole singing/dancing "I'm so ultra sexy" crowd.

Yeah...some of the women are very hot...some can even sing...

...and there might even be a couple of decent male singers...

...but for some reason, even though he can sign fairly well...

...Timberlake just annoys the piss out of me.

Even the sight of him singing is a major irritation...especially when he really tries to play up that wannabe a white-boy Prince" image.

He's not Prince and never will be...so what's his big claim to fame...currently?

Oh no, I don't think he's annoying. I want to have his babies.

I'm kidding, of course. He is so annoying. Someone really needs to karate chop him in the throat- not to kill him, just to shut him up.

He doesn't annoy me simply because he isn't even on my radar screen. I've probably heard him sing on TV but don't pay enough attention for it to annoy me. I'm not saying its good or bad, it just doesn't interest me, I focus mostly on instrumental music. If a singer uses his/her voice like an instrument I take notice. Some bands that I like have singers, and I like alot of singer singwriters with lyrics that reach me. But I almost never listen to pop singers from any style or era. There are notable exceptions but its still usually great songwriting as well.

I would probably find him annoying if I paid any attention to him, but I don't. Life is too short to waste it on insignificant music.

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

Trust me...I don't try to pay attention to him at all.

But every once in awhile he'll pop up on some TV show or some entertainment news clip...and...well, he just really annoys me when he does!

I didn't find him so annoying at first, has he done 2 albums? If he has the first was bearable - the second was bilge. At first I was impressed by the dancing and the falsetto wasn't disagreeable but then the tunes, production and everything else seemed to take a nosedive and I hate to hear/see him now.

I thought the video was a lampoon!!! Is it not?

Hi Geoff.....that video is an actual skit he did, along with that comedian that appears with him, on Saturday Night Live, the long running comedy show here.

I took it as him lampooning himself, which I think is pretty cool!! There were a couple other sketches on that show where he was pretty funny as well.

I especially loved his Robin Gibb impression with Jimmy Fallon on "The Barry Gibb Show" sketch. I'm sure you can find it on youtube. I'm at work, so I am blocked from finding a link for it. Check it out. It's quite funny.

As far as his musical talent, Timberlake is a decent singer whose musical style I absolutely loathe. I wish he would do some straight pop or rock-n-roll.

A few years back, when N'SYNC broke up, I happened to be walking behind a group of 20-something office workers. They were talking about how bummed out they were that the group was splitting, but they were really excited about the solo albums about to be released by Timberlake and J.C. Chazez.

I was born in 1963...I thought of the musical giants that walked the earth in my lifetime and felt tremendous pity for the current generation...the music they have to listen to today is pretty sorry.

I sound like a crotchety old grump, I know. I'm aware that there was plenty of crappy music back in the day, but the marketing minds definitely seem to have the upper hand over the creative element now.

I could definitely be happier never hearing Justin Timberlake sing ever again. I don't like what he does at all.

But damn he was funny as host of SNL. BTW - There are at least two of the Bee Gees sketches with Jimmy Fallon. Fallon isn't on SNL anymore, but they had him make a cameo for that sketch because it went over so well the first time. :thu:

I was going to say the SNL Digital short was hilarious, then I realized that was the sketch linked above.

BTW - Has anyone watched the homage created from the female perspective? Box In A Box is hilarious, more so because it was done just for fun and turned out incredible. Be sure to watch the Keith Olbermann interview with "Bunny" after you watch Box In A Box. All are on You Tube!

To play Devil's advocate, I saw a backstage interview with him after he played the SARS festival in Toronto.

I think he did ok, sort of a Stevie Wonder sort of thing. But the crowd booed and threw things at him. Very out of the ordinary for a Toronto crowd.

When he came off stage, the interviewer asked him how it went and he said that he had come to Toronto to play for free, hoping to help out the cause. He went on to say that he didn't know what he was thinking, getting up on stage with The Stones and AC/DC. He said "I probably would have booed me too."

He knew his place and seemed very humble. Although I will never buy an album, I certainly gained a lot of respect for him.
