LN-4JHSE
I am looking for Lync keytars, power modules, schematics, anything that will help me keep my Jan Hammer LN-4 alive for as long as possible. When it goes, I go!
mate stubb
Haven't heard about these rare birds for a long time. Do you have any pics? Moe ---
ProfD
Dammit Moe, had I known someone was going to let this thread live, I would have posted my reply earlier: Goodbye! Seriously, does Jan Hammer even still play that thing? I believe George Duke pulled out one last year in concert. I hope the strap-on is not making a comeback. mate stubb
Admit it Prof, we all fantasized about using keytars back in the 80s! You can watch Jan and his keytar here with an overplaying Eddie Van H here: Moe ---

I'm a keyboard player perfectly content with the fact that we sit and/or stand in command at the console. PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. synthdogg
John Lawry was the king of the Lync!!! This guy was the rock keyboard hero for the 80s!! He made the Lync look way cooler than it was. http://www.emmausroad.us/photos/Franklin/LawryJammin.jpg
zeronyne
Hey synthdogg! Long time no see. Are you really selling yours? I just brought mine out of mothballs the other day. If it wasn't the color of semen, I'd actually find a place for it in the studio. Does John have any spare parts left?? "For instance" is not proof. synthdogg
Hey Zeronyne!!!! I'm sure John's got some parts hanging around, I haven't talked to him since I left Nashville. LN-4JHSE
I have had my JHSE since 89 or 90. On stage I actually feel more comfortable behind a keyboard. The Lync isn't about the look or the freedom to wonder around. Its the expression you can squeeze out of the thing. I spent years programming patches designed to take advantage of the left hand controls. The combination of the pitch bend and the second expression wheel, espessially the oversized offset JHSE placement of the wheels, allows for much greater control (with practice). The expression wheel when in organ mode is handy for the Leslie effect, but its in my guitar and synth type sounds where it really comes into play. The suttle combination of pitch bend and tonal changes that can be articulated by that control placement cannot be duplicated on a flat surface. When playing a lead you cannot have enough expression options on a keyboard (unless you are just playing traditional keyboard sounds). Screw the 80's, it's about the music.
