Keep us posted on the sound of the pups Geoff. I'd like to hear about how they sound because I've wondered about putting Barts on one of my Fenders.

Is there a preamp too?

Visit my band's new web site.

No pre-amp, just the original Shine fitted. I'll be hooking it up to the stock pre on the Hohner B bass. I'll see how that goes - it's a two band on a stacked knob system. I'll maybe consider a better pre later.

It'll be a while before I get this set up as I have to excavate a hole for the Musicman-style pup, and I want to go to a master vol/blend wiring too. And there's the coil-switching to think about. Maybe a push/pull on the vol to go from series to parallel?

Decisions, decisions.

I have Barts in my Yamaha - and a Bart preamp. It sounds great. Actually, the thing all my past basses that I have liked most (Modulus, Lakland) had that in common - Bart electronics. I think they are very vesitile and very quiet.
