fantasticsound
Cool video clip, 'Zan! I have to assume that the guitars they're playing are THE first two LP's shipped from the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI. The shipping logs show a shipment to Geib & Co., then builders of Gibson guitar cases but that was likely a body/neck blank sent for measurement of the case. The next instance of Les Paul models being shipped is an entry showing two sent directly to Les Paul. Shortly thereafter there are notations of shipments to various dealers. I'm a bit confused though. There were no details about the guitars in the paperwork. Just an entry stating what product, the date and to whom it was sent. I wonder if the vibrato on Les' instrument came from the factory or if it was added later. (It's one of those godawful flat spring type vibratos. Ugh!) It's easiest to find me on Facebook. bbqbob
Uncle Les gave me Aunt Iris' (Mary Ford's real name) Les Paul she used in that film clip after she passed away in 1977. I should get that thing appraised.
paully
I should get that thing appraised. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Are you kidding!! Don't worry about retirement funds with that in the closet. fantasticsound
You're joking, right bbqbob?? Frankly, I'm surprised Les had that guitar given the rather mean breakup they had, if even a few of the stories I heard are true. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. ElbowGeek
Hi, noob to the board here. I just want to say that that clip was amazing. There's the reasons already stated, and if you'll notice, those two standing there in their Sunday best were making some true rock guitar moves. The neck/body bending, the way they sling those beautiful axes around wouldn't be done for another ten years or so by rockers on a regular basis. The Man was ahead of his time in every aspect Cheers all
