Soulrock
After reading some posts about this pedal here, I went and tried/bought one. It's wicked. Interestingly, I find the best distortion/overdrive pedals to be solid state.....
mdrs
Hey Soul....first WELCOME TO OUR FORUM Second....good choice!.....The OCD is a sweet overdrive pedal, esp. if you want the natural sound of your amp to come thru. Soulrock
Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. Rampdog, that song is a demo from my band Perfect Pistol. I wrote the music on that one and our singer wrote the lyrics. The lead guitars are me, but our other guitarist plays lead too, depends on the song. Sauce
Heard nothing but good about the OCD, enjoy it. Have you tried any tube pedals? I know some people that swear by 'em. I really just wanna chime in though and say I enjoyed your band's songs, especially "Athena Skye." And welcome aboard. Then you'll never hear surf music again... Soulrock
Sauce...I have tried quite a few tube pedals. I have a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic that is pretty cool, and Tonebone makes a few nice ones that I've tried also. It's just that my personal favorites happen to be ss. I think it's probably because I dont like tons of gain. Even though the Twin Tube doesn't, most tube pedals use 12ax7's and to my ears have a kind of modern preamp distortion type of sound that overpowers the sound of the amp. I've used a TS 808(reissue) for years and love it, and this OCD is fantastic. One of the things I dig is how well it cleans up with the volume control on the guitar. I can leave it on all the time and go from fairly clean, to a nice raunchy rythym tone, to pretty saturated for leads. I'm glad you liked the music, and appreciate the feedback. Doc, Fumbly...I'll definatly stick around here.
mdrs
Soul....you are right on about that OCD....great pedal. One of our Regulars, ellwood, will likely chime in before long. He LOVES his Klon Centaur od pedal. I've heard GREAT things about it as well. I ordered one about 3 months ago......should have it in a week or two. After I get it, I'm hoping to post a bunch of audio clips of various OD pedals for everyone's listening pleasure!! Kind of like this "Battle Of The Wah Pedals" thread; https://forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/1596058/page/2#Post1596058 Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. Soulrock
Doc...PLEASE put up some sound clips of the Klon when you get it. I've been on the fence for a couple of years about getting one. That pedal is like a myth, I keep hearing how good they are, but no one has one. I understand there is a sevral month wait if you order one. I'd like to at least hear it before I shell out the $$. You did a great job on the wah thread, an OD comparison would be cool.
b3_john
I'm still on the fence about getting an OCD (vs. maybe a Keeley true bypass TS-808). Unfortunately, even though I actually have a Fulltone dealer here in B-F-Egypt they are perpetually out of stock on the OCDs. I'd just want it for leads, I already have a Sparkle Drive and Launch Pad (search google, etc. for "tube amp cooking" if you haven't heard of it before) that gets me everything else I want at this point in time.
