Jim Alfredson
With the exception of my XK System, yes. 1 BCV (spoken for, so technically no longer mine, although it's still in my living room), 1 CV, 1 C2, 1 B3, 1 A100, and an M3 in the garage. Actually, two M3s but one is for parts only and is in a "custom" case that is totally nasty. But I only have four Leslies, so... Keep it greazy! BluesKeys
I have my M3 and I am in search of the elusive leslie DEAL. It seems they are going for more than A100's these days. Maybe I'll hook up with an A100 and a 147 for a song somewhere. Jimmy Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others. Jim Alfredson
I know, it's a disease. My wife is very understanding (mostly). A few years ago I picked up an A100 for $200, but she made me sell it. I just got another (for free) and I'm going to try and keep it, but sell another one, maybe two. Keep it greazy! Legatoboy
B3-er, I found out from the (computer) guy I work with , my boss that is, who is collecting Hammonds and Leslies at a feverish pace (2 31H's, 2 145, 1 151 an A100 and and a M3) what your acquisition syndrome is called. . .your are probably aware of this already! HAS Hammond Acquisition Syndrome! I think he got that from over on Hamtech! Jim Alfredson
Which organ do I like best? Well, I know my '58 B3 better than the others because she was my road dog / recording rig up until last year. She sounds great, although I have not even turned her on in months. She's sitting out in the garage, all lonely. I need to put her in the basement studio soon. She's definitely my favorite. revriley
thanks B3-er. With clones being so good now do you think it's even worth owning a 400lb hammond with leslie speaker anymore?
mate stubb
thanks B3-er. With clones being so good now do you think it's even worth owning a 400lb hammond with leslie speaker anymore? Yes. A good tonewheel Hammond has a soul and is a trusty companion for life. A clone is just that - an imitation of the real thing, no matter how good. It will let you down in 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, whatever. I'll gig with a clone, but will never be without the real thing. Moe ---
Jim Alfredson
I honestly do not miss my B3 playing live. I enjoy the XK System a lot. Sure, it's not perfect, but it is capable of the same expresiveness as the real thing and is just as fun to play. Plus it is more versatile. Is it worth owning a true tonewheel? Sure. And the Leslie is still irreplaceable, imo. Nothing can replicate moving air. Keep it greazy! B3tles - Soul Jazz THEO - Prog Rock
kanker.
IIs it worth owning a true tonewheel? Sure. Obviously it's worth owning more that one. Same thing goes for Leslies. A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.
