A little misunderstanding goes a long way...

My goal was not to disrupt the forums by questioning Reif and Craigs authority. They have a duty as Mods...and I respect that.

I honestly have nothing to gain from disrupting the forumsbut I see that even any questions about forum rules...comes off as a disruption of the forums.

It just my nature to debate issues/topicsbut honestly, its usually meant to be a positive debate with the hopes of some issues being resolvedand not just an attempt at making trouble.

There are a lot of people here...and a lot of different ideas/attitudes.

It's rare to have such a large congregation agree on everything all the time.

I will avoid openly broaching the subject of Forum Rules on these forums.

As far as offending anyone on these forums by the use of a single curse word in the Saturation thread

...if I did, please PM me, and I will gladly offer up an apology to you.

On another note

Doc, HardtailI know we butt heads from time to timebut I have NO desire to be enemies with you guysand I think we are all a bit stubborn on some issues, which leads to occasional standoffsand sometimes bad feelings.

I have no hard feelings toward you guysand I think you should take a cue from what Guitarzan saidand dont take me too seriously when we are involved in a heated debate.

Im in it mostly for the fun, and any occasional BBing is not meant to put down anyone.

So.consider this a truce/handshake...if you are so inclined.

I'd say that we all know what to say to "push the buttons". And, once that's done, we should not be too surprised at the consequences.

I'll be the first to admit that I do take things pretty seriously. I kid, and try to make jokes. But, in general I'm a pretty serious person.

I'll accept your offer of reconciliation. And, work on the old Beatles philosophy..."Let It Be".

There's a time and a place for everything and so long as it's not intentionally directed toward an individual I have little trouble accepting what ever expletive supports a given position for the purpose of expressing passion and intensity.

Sometimes trying to explain why somethings pisses you off or is completely fuct takes way to long to express.

We're all guys here (ladies included) and I'm certain we'd enjoy raising a beer with eachother regardless of our differences or English usage.

I think the rules are meant to guide us on a path to toward peaceful and respectful communications. Not to be a puritanical or politically correct prescription for changing who we are as individuals.

It would be a stretch to believe that a foul language offends anyone personally today but still it does startle many by where it occurs. And it occurs everywhere! It's just respectful to keep from pointing it at people or using it excessively and I think we're damn good at maintaining that level of civility.

Debate is good. We should think twice before we toss rocks or shit at one another.

Everyone's good.

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

I think part of the reasons that the discussions on this forum are good is because we do have rules. EVERY other forum on the internet I have ever visited is over run with flaming, spamming, trolling, and general rudeness. You can't find a decent well thought out arguement to save your life. All it takes are few simple rules and open minded moderators to enforce them to make this a great place to visit.

In my personal life I cuss alot, I wish I didn't but its an easy habit to get into and a hard one to break. I also like to push peoples buttons as do many of us here. But in the end, its us a group, with a little help from the mods, that keeps me coming here every day. I'm not afraid to post my opinion, I know that even though people may disagree, I won't be attacked. Lets keep this a place where any level of player of any style can come and talk about guitars with out prejudices and bullying.

Glad this tension is winding down. I'm the most informal guy you'll ever meet, with as vile a vocabulary as anyone, but we don't want parents shooing their kids away from here. Parents DO wanna know what their kids are exposed to online, as all of you parents here will attest. I just signed up my 11 year old nephew, and don't wanna regret that decision. Here's a good rule of thumb: language you wouldn't want your mom or your small children hearing is what we don't want here.

What did I miss?? :P

(Please... Do NOT answer that question! )

I'm glad that most of the disagreements never make it to the point someone feels the need to sidebar the conversation and even happier those directly involved have used the sidebar to come to an agreement to let the arguement die down rather than continue blasting each other here. :thu: (As appears to be the SOP at many forums, music or otherwise.)

Actually, no, the "one word" you thought was there is actually two, one longer adjective, and one short noun, then the comma and the final word. ;)

Can somebody translate this #%$@!@ stuff for me? I can't find it it any of our dictionaries here at the Language Lab!

So far it hasn't come up, but consider some of the truly bizarre things that have crossed my desk the last couple of years, it's only a matter of time!

But then again, if I can understand my fellow guitarists, I can do ANYTHING...

For the record, there was more than one miscreant that this originates from. I'm really glad this one's goin' away, but am more interested in prevention. I'm not gonna apologize for doin' my job, and folks will have no one but themselves to blame when I do it.
