Sounds like you have worked out the marketing/technical details. At some point, you want to take them out for a spin. Get a feel for how they respond to your sweet caress. When a particular model jumps out, ask specific questions about it. I betcha someone around here owns one, two or all of them. Good luck and welcome to the forum. I would also play as many things as possible. That's the only real way you'll be able to tell which action you like best. Action is a personal thing and something that you really need to determine for yourself. Joe Muscara
WTF?? BS' reply was super-polite about it, and he gets called rude?! His reply was one of the nicest "hey this has already been discussed" posts I've ever seen. And if 88keyzsynth had TOLD US he has no access to try any boards in the first place, well gee, ya think that might have helped people answer him? Don'tcha love it when you try to help someone and they piss on you? Later dude... "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! MikeNZ
I found the Casio and Maudio actions rather stiff and slow. The Yamaha are not so stiff, though the actions do differ between models. Some hammer actions (Casio, Maudio) really seem to overdo the simulation of the hammer engaging and releasing. You get kind a sticking point where the 'hammer' is picked up by the key, then on release the keys have a pronounced and slow bounce. To me they feel like a 'new' piano where everything is tight and it hasn't been worked in yet. Contrast this to the Kurzweil PC1X which feels like a well used baby grand, closer in feel to my fully restored 75 year old baby grand than I ever though possible, with a faster action. Choose the action you like. If you play mainly piano then the tighter, slower actions may suit you. If you want a more general purpose keyboard then look for a lighter, faster action. There is no such thing as a standard 'piano' action on acoustic pianos anyway. All makes are different, some fast, some slow, some heavy, some light, and then a piano tuner can alter the feel a bit also. Michael
SilverDragonSoun
Ya bloodsample what the hell were you thinking being so rude? Seriously the type of response you got was unfair and its the quickest way to alienate me.
