Pat Azzarello
I know there was a thread a while back announcing the re-release of some of thes "records" on CD. I bought a vinyl copy (when the only CD copies on eBay were $125) and ripped this one 3 or 4 years ago because it kept popping into my head. I didn't jump on buying the CD when it was re-released, but I finally did it last week (after having it on my Amazon Wish List for about a year - I guess most of my friends/relatives won't buy me a CD I want it they don't know who the artist is... hmmm...). Anyway... I had a conversation with Patrick Moraz a couple of years ago at NAMM, and he told me they were going to re-release these (Note that Roger Powell's Airpocket it released as well). I was pretty excited, but since I had the "ripped" copy, I lived without it. Mistake. I put it in my CD player and was instantly taken back to 1978, except without the scratches. This album has been one of my favorites for a lot of reasons, and made me buy a number of Patrick's albums afterwards. The percussion, the Minimoogs, Oberheims, and other gear... Just a cool wash of sounds. There's even a vocoder piece (still need to get my NI Vokator working one of these days to thrill the kids ). Now, if I could only get a big copy of that picture of Patrick with a zillion keyboards around him for my studio...
