FP-7 A-flat(6) doesn't sound right

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I think my new FP-7 (which I really like) has a small problem: A-flat6 (second from the top) sounds thinner (and has more hammer noise) than the notes on either side of it in any of the grand piano modes. The difference is a little subtle, but it's there (my daughter hears it too). I did a full piano reset just to make sure it wasn't the result of any adjustments I made. Also, I don't hear any problems with other instruments so I don't think it's a mechanical or electrical problem with my particular keyboard. In fact, the sound reminds me of my Steinway L when the hammers need voicing, so I'm inclined to think it's a bad sample.

Could some other FP-7 owner please check and see if they have the same problem? Thanks.

It was suggested to me on another forum that I try transposing the keyboard to see if the problem remains with the key or follows the transposition (in which case it would be a bad sample). It turns out that problem moves to the next key when I transpose by half a step, so it seems to be a sampling issue. By the way, I'm using version 1.04 of the operating system.

Bob, I don't have a FP-7 but I have three notes (one sample) that are very slightly out tune on my GranTouch but only when I use the sustain pedal. I also have an F below middle C that (without using the sustain pedal) rings very slightly more than the surrounding notes.

The more you play that note the more you'll be reminded by it. Stop playing that note.

Doctor, it hurts when I do this.

Stop doing that.

No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message.

In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments.
