Bass-a-roni
I just dropped in (2) Nordstrand (MM5.2) pickups into my Carvin LB75, wired into the Aguilar OBP-3 Preamp. They are wired in series and give nice punch and definition...any suggestions on if there any other wiring combinations for the MM5.2 pickups. I tried the Parallel config and its sounds a little too thin for my liking. "Yeah, I've got a special effect - it's this cable. DavidMPires
I'm sorry that I'm useless for that matter. Guess that either Davo-London or C Alexander, have quite an experience with that kind of pickups. www.myspace.com/davidbassportugal "And then the magical unicorn will come prancing down the rainbow and we'll all join hands for a rousing chorus of Kumbaya." - by davio

The Geoff
Are they wired in series within themselves, or in series with each other? G. Bass-a-roni
They are wired in series with them selves. Carey is a helluva nice guy, knowledgeable and basically gave me the series and parallel wiring configs. McGeoff touched on a little was I was wondering about.. they are wired in series within themselves..that is, the coils of each humbucker is in a series configuration. I have not tried wiring the two humbuckers in series or parallel with each other since I thought was reserved for single coil pickups. "Yeah, I've got a special effect - it's this cable. The Geoff
Wiring the two humbuckers (each already wired in series) in series with each other could either be too much or awesome!! You'd double the output (could overpower the gain & cause too much overdrive), cut a lot of the highs and boost the mids considerably. Now, if you are really handy with a soldering iron & know how to wire 12 terminal (6 to 6) rotary switches, you could do things like neck-nearest-coil to bridge-nearest-coil with humbucking. Could you do that? If not, I suggest that series/parallel switching (diagrams all over the Internet) is as good as it gets. If you think about it, if any of the other coil configurations were killer, then the manufacturers would employ them by design. I have a Westone Thunder III Fretless with two humbuckers which can be series/parallel switched and also in/out of phase. I've found it more than Good Enough. Davo-London
That's beyond me, but the Norstrand/Aguilar combination should deliver a great package. Davo "We will make you bob your head whether you want to or not". - David Sisk
