...
I ended my new cab quest this afternoon at BassNW by purchasing an Epifani UL-410 and a UL-212. They crush the SWR Goliath III's that I currently have in all aspects - most notably in the lowend department where the SWR's just can't keep up. Another fine selling point: each of them weighs less than 60 pounds. Here we are making comparisons in the basement. The SWR cabs will be living at rehearsal spaces or they will be sold - I haven't figured out which for sure yet. http://www.briantimpe.com/images/LDL/Epifani.jpg

music-man
Very happy for you. My UL310 is really fantastic - I think Nick Epifani has done a better job than almost anyone of figuring out how to make the high end of a bass (pretty much any bass) sound good. Combined with robust low end (that's not steroidal) and light weight - man, it can't be beat. I thought about the UL410 briefly, but since it doesn't fit in the back of a NYC taxi, there was no way I could do it. I'm curious how the 212 sounds - anxious to hear your report, once you've been able to gig it.

I'm curious how the 212 sounds - anxious to hear your report, once you've been able to gig it. Couldn't agree more about the high end. I actually want to keep the tweeter on with these cabs - which is amazing since every other cab that I've ever played through immediately gets the tweeter turned off. The response is so smooth and natural sounding, I really can't think of a better way to describe it. And yes big full low end for days when you want it. The weight thing still astounds me. I cannot believe how light these things are. When I was trying them out I originally just had the 4x10 plugged in. It sounded really good and full. Chad then plugged the 2x12 in and it just exploded. At that moment I was sold. Either cab sounds great on its own but together they are a force to be reckoned with. My next gig isn't until the 12th so it'll be a bit before they hit the stage with me. Tom Capasso
Congrats !! I found SWR (and other) cabs to be brittle and cheesy with the upper frequencies. I think what Maury is trying to say is that with this upgrade you are strong and bad. Enjoy! Tom www.stoneflyrocks.com Acoustic Color Be practical as well as generous in your ideals.
