Buying sheetmusic

I found this on Hal leonard site.

I was learning yesterday from a book of latin grooves, and they have stave and tab below. Tab was good to pick up the figure quick, and stave to see the chord changes.

Does anyone uses this website? Eventually I will be deleting tab from my books and be able to learn from staves only.

Thanks David,

I usually just listen but if it's too hard I have been known to peek at a transcription in a music store while browsing books or a chord chart or transcription on the net (quite often wrong though). I might use something like this when I start my 'Brazilian standards' group later this year.

I would definitely cover up the tab. In my books I'm taking the advice (from Jeremy?) and sticking paper or tape over the tab.

If I spent all the years I stupidly spent reading tab actually reading notes I would be a great sight reader right now rather than a lousy one.

True and I'm realizing that now.

Tho I'm beating you in age  :)

If you want I can lend you the book for a while.

Comes with audio examples with and without bass and then a full lenght music in that style of music. Yesterday I was learning "Nanigo" a cuban style brought buy african's way back in 1500.

I'll be using masking tape, the covering will start today

Nop I don't have that one.

I don't have many books to be honest. I need to spend more money in them.

I'll maybe ask you for that book later on.

I've been using tab co's for covers band it's quicker, when I have to nail songs I usually can learn three an evening or so. which makes it very easy.

But i guess that if I use the staves will be helfull for my aural skills as well.

Tab makes us lazy but they are adictive, I'm trying to get rid of the plague :)

Since I have my band setlist pretty nailed down, I have more time to concentrate on my skils.

Yeah

most of the time.

I rely 50% on the tab and the rest on my ears, Usually helps me positioning and then I make it up to what sounds good to me.
