Gruupi
I use the XT Live for just about everything electric now. Spent alot of time tweaking tones. Try lots of things, not just the things that are supposed to work. Try different speaker emulations till you get close. Then the microphone modeling can be that last little bit that makes a patch really shine. Mess with the amount of the "room" ambience vs. reverb to try and get a nice wet sound that still has focus (recording in stereo make a big difference). Try to get 3 or 4 really good tones rather than 30 mediocre ones. Its not just trying to match someone elses tone on record, but getting a great musical tone that makes you just want to play for hours. Then get an Atomic amp and be ready to tweak for many more hours lol. Anyway, my tone has never been better. I spent months tweaking, but it was worth it. Its so easy to record now. Once you get the sound its always there, you don't have to worry about the mics and room anymore.
