mdrs
Anyone out there is Guitar Forum land have any expericnce with EV-12L's?? My friend Eliot, who's been around, says that they are his favorite's, because your tone will not be influenced by speaker break up, due to these being 200 watt speakers. He says it'll let your amp's tone shine thru unadulterated. Anyone have any experience with the 200 watt Electro Voice EV-12L's?? Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. The Geoff
The only things I know about EVs is that (1) they are very loud for their rating (generally - got to be careful what I say here) and (2) I wish I could afford them. MILLO
I had been looking for a used Mesa 1x12 cab w/ an EV12 but they wouldn't appear when I had the money, and would appear when I couldn't afford them, so I gave up. EV 12L's are heavy. I wanted one or two b/c I wanted a speaker w/ lots of headroom. I got an Avatar 2x12 w/ 2 Eminence Swamp Thangs eventually. I think the 12L are now the Black Label Zakk Wylde sigature model. mdrs
Geoff and Millo So, the EV's are good because they are loud? Are there tonal aspects to what makes them desirable? The Geoff
I must admit I've never heard them, but the opinions I've read rate them very highly in all departments. G. mdrs
Thanks, Geoff. I may have heard them, but wasn't paying any attention to them!! From what I've heard, they clean up your sound a bit, and let the amp's tone rule. Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. Dr. Ellwood
I've got the 12inch EV SRO's in old my Fender Twin Reverb. They are very heavy and the magnets stick out the back of the cabinet, they are the white ones. They are very very clean and very loud! But yes I agree they do let the tonel character of the amp itself come through. I don't have any experience with the 12L though. http://www.thestringnetwork.com
