NoahZark
Oh man; that's hysterical! Sort of like Borat on jazz. Or Borat meets Nigel Tufnel.
SK
Definitely Borat meets Monk. That rendition of "Well you Needn't" reminds me of a gig I did with a great NY bari player where (at one point, for a joke) we played some minor key standards in major keys. The winner, or the most atrocious, was probably "Round Midnight." Convert the whole melody to major (but keep the 4th bar 'as is'.) With exaggerated vibrato on the bari, it sounded like some kind of 'Guy Lombardo' nightmare. CD: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/stevekessler

Dave Ferris
Try Joe Henderson's Recorde Me in a major mode......on the melody/head in A, make the C naturals, C -sharp, G naturals, G sharp. ...the same up a minor 3rd in C...great fun. https://soundcloud.com/dave-ferris https://www.youtube.com/@daveferris2709 2005 NY Steinway D Yamaha AvantGrand N3X, CP88, P515
Jazzwee
Ha ha!!! This is great. I saw an earlier version of this without much explanation. This one with the wig and all is funny as heck. konaboy
perhaps he could do something with "Take 5". That piece also has great potential but Brubeck got the time signature all wrong. hang out with me at woody piano shack
Bridog6996
I've heard a version of Take 5 done in 6, but I can't remember for the life of me who did it. It was somebody who's at least fairly well-known too. I want to say George Benson, but I know that's wrong. Man, this is going to bug the crap out of me. Phil W
Thanks dementedchord, I'd forgotten how funny this was. It was discussed once before but we didn't know it was Larry Goldings back then! Great stuff! Oh. . . I remember: then it was only MySpace audio now we have video too. http://www.myspace.com/hansgroinerplaysmonk http://philwbass.com
Bobadohshe
Oh man. I can't stop watching this. The look on his face when he's done playing 'Well You Needn't' is priceless. And I love how he reharms the second chord as a G major instead of a Gb. I can't get those melodies out of my head! At church tonight I kept throwing them in as they worked so seamlessly over the square changes. I am eagerly awaiting another episode.
