musicalhair
Hey, when a great artist reinterprets a great work of art, we all benefit. But instead, here is Alanis Morrisette doing "My Humps". alanis doing my humps If I screwed up the link I'll come back later tonight and try to fix it. later check out some comedy I've done: http://louhasspoken.tumblr.com/ My Unitarian Jihad Name: Brother Broadsword of Enlightened Compassion. Bejeeber
That was pretty funny. Thank God. The day someone like Alanis does a serious cover version of crap like that song is a dark day indeed. Alanis actually made it sound pretty good, although nuthin could make those -200 IQ lyrics into a decent serious song. (I'm not objecting to the nature of the lyrical content, just the complete lack of talent, artistry involved) Just a pinch between the geek and chum

Squ
Yeah guys this is obviously making a giant parody of the song. When the lyrics are presented in this way you can truly see how stupid the song is. I think it's awesome. Red Red Rockit

musicalhair
I love it too, I didn't mean to sound like I'm knocking Alanis, I just thought the way I set it up was pretty funny. My knock was on the song. What I think is intersting is that it sounds like to me that Alanis is not singing "my humps" but "my hump", and I don't know if Fergie's version does the same or if Alanis made a change. What it reminded me of was this, which I think is a work of genius: Now, because of the lyrics, and maybe even the NWA video this isn't work safe or kid safe in some people's opinion. check out some comedy I've done: http://louhasspoken.tumblr.com/ My Unitarian Jihad Name: Brother Broadsword of Enlightened Compassion. Don, it you are talking about Taylor Hawkings he still works with her on occassion Yea, that's the guy! Thanks, Zub. He's an awesome drummer, isn't he? Handsome guy, looks great playing, and kicks some major ass!! I've liked Alanis from the start. Her talent literally jumps off a CD and grabs you by the throat and says...."I have something to say, and if you're big enough, YOU'L TAKE A LISTEN"!! Seriously, I enjoy watching her. I like her music. She has attracted and choosen some great musicians to play in her band. And, aside from her talent, I really appreciate her intelligence. I MUST apologise for what I am about to say, but here it is ANYWAY. Alanis could do pretty much whatever she want to do to my humps. don't tell my wife...... Peace Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. mdrs
Don't suppose the medical exam excuse would fly here. It'd be worth a shot??? In all honesty, that line NEVER worked for me!! During your training you are so busy, and so poor, that all the nurses knew that all you wanted was quick sex, because you REALLY needed to get some sleep. LOL I'd ask someone out, and they'd smile (?laugh?), and politely decline.....Occasionally, begging helped!! No thank you, doctor!!! LMAO  Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. Danzilla
I get what she's doing; pretty amusing in a dry way. I'll bet Fergie just thinks it's a loving tribute to her... However, I do prefer when Alan Kalter sang "My Humps" on the Letterman show. musicalhair
I'll look for the Alan Kalter version of "My Humps", but if someone finds it first, please posst the link. Is no one diggin' on the Nina Gordon NWA cover? It doesn't have the great video like Alanis' cover of "my humps", but as for the way she delivers the lyric is great I think. check out some comedy I've done: http://louhasspoken.tumblr.com/ My Unitarian Jihad Name: Brother Broadsword of Enlightened Compassion. The Bear Jew
I like the NWA cover. I had heard ot some time ago, and it never fails to amuse me. The Alanis cover is funny to me for about 30 seconds, and then the joke gets stale. I get it--the song has inane, repetitive lyrics, and Alanis makes it sound serious and emotional by singing it in her style... which is funny... but then it drags on and on. Let it go. The video is just as annoying as the one the Black-Eyed Peas did for the same song, IMO. Otherwise, I do enjoy a lot of Alanis' other stuff. I generally don't like "funny" music... unless they get to the joke and get out fairly quickly. Otherwise I get annoyed. So... it's funnier to me when a sweet-voiced woman like Nina Gordon takes on a hardcore old-school gangsta song in her sensitive style. Note, however, that she sticks to one verse (the Ice Cube verse) and gets outta there. It's a joke with a quick punchline. \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu
Strategery
Alanis needs a disclaimer for this song. DO NOT LISTEN TO WITHOUT A BUZZ. I think that video was filmed from the lost city of Alanis. Randy "Just play!"
