Floyd Tatum
Anybody tried one yet? I see it weighs 33 lbs - nice! The keyboard is "PHA Alpha II", whereas the (more expensive, and heavier) FP7 is "PHA II". Wonder what "alpha" means in this context? "Half a" in an English accent? As in: "the FP4 keyboard is alphas good as the FP7 keyboard?" I'll have to try one out for myself, I suppose.
resigned
There is an extensive discussion about the FP4 and FP7 here.
burningbusch
I played the FP4 and FP7 at NAMM. I wasn't very impressed with either, even though I generally like Roland. It could have been the headphones but the sounds seemed cheesier/cheaper than the RD300SX. The RD300SX weighs same and is in a more pro package. I suppose the piano samples might be different than the RDs but there was nothing that got me excited. The other sounds seemed like they were right out of the RD300SX. The RD700SX is a much better board than the FP7 and I prefer the RD300SX over either of these. The action on the FP4 is pretty light, in the same league as the RD300SX. Busch. Floyd Tatum
Did the FP4 have that springy up-weight like the RD300SX? If it does, that'll be a deal-breaker for me. Maybe there's a Casio in my future....
burningbusch
Richard, I think you're going to have to determine that for yourself. I'm not tuned into the particular defect. Busch.
