Picture tube died on me a few months back. It's just too heavy to haul out by myself. The basses are my two new fish, a Squier Vintage Modified Fretless, and a MIM P Bass.I got them last week. With those, my $100 Ashbody, and my OLP Tony Levin, I am rapidly becoming the King of Good But Cheap Basses.

I bought the fretless because it was the best feeling Jazz Bass I ever played. I have changed the strings and set it up to tune B-E-A-D instead of E-A-D-G, and it is pretty nice that way.

Hey Picker...cool basses, but I want to tell you something that will make you feel better about buying 2 basses in one week,. A couple of weeks ago when I was at a gig, I met a fellow bass player from Utica,New York. He is the drummer's friend. Nice guy...etc...visiting us down in sunny FLA. Well, we got to bass war stories, and he told me he owns 58 Musicman basses + a bunch of other guitars, I was like.....................totally speechless...!!! All I could say is,,"well, if you ever want to sell any of them".... He said no.........OH well.

Best,

Kenny

Sweet fish, Picker!

....and he told me he owns 58 Musicman basses + a bunch of other guitars,....

And that guy really likes the Music Man, what'cha think?

My whole trick is to keep the tune well out in front. If I play Tchaikovsky, I play his melodies and skip his spiritual struggle. ~Liberace

Nice basses :thu:

...a little help with posting pics directly...

Firstly, you need to link directly to a file. This could be any image format that a browser supports, but would normally be .jpg or maybe .gif

Then, you use the image tags like you did - but note that in the fictitious URL I made up, the address ends with .jpg? That's because I'm linking directly to a file, rather than a webpage on a picture hosting site that has the image embedded into it's source code.

[img=http://www.mydomain.com/pics/picturename.jpg]

...How do you get the direct link? You need to have a location to store your images where you can link to them directly if you want to embed them into posts on forums using image tags. Over here at least (I imagine it would be the same in the US) it's standard for an ISP to give you an amount of webspace to make a homepage, or for hosting files etc. The format is usually:

http://www.yourISPname.com/~yourusername

Check with your ISP to see if you have this free webspace attached to your account.

Then you just need to use FTP (file transfer protocol) to send the pics to your private webspace. To do this you can buy a FTP client program, or download one of the many free ones available (Google can help here). Alternatively you can use a free web based FTP client service to upload your images like www.net2ftp.com

You can create a folder on your webspace to hold your pics too, to free up the root directory for a home page or similar. I use PICS as the name for my image folder.

So, then let's say you've uploaded a picture called mybass.jpg to your webspace and put it in a foler called PICS.

You want to post the picture on a forum, so the code you use to embed the image would be:

[img=http://www.myISPname.com/~myusername/pics/mybass.jpg]

I hope that helps ;) (and if you already knew all that, sorry - I just figured that because your thread was an experiment to see if the picture worked it might be helpful).

;)
