mdrs
Ramp....there's no thinking involved. YOU NEED ONE  Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. mdrs
Ramp pooch ......if that's a real '58 (it was hard for me to see enough to venture a good guess....it might be), well....if you get one, I'll be right down to polish it for you!!! I too loved that tone. A good LP with a fat bluesy neck pu can be a blues machine. I love all my guitars (LOL), but am partial to LP's. Your life task will not be complete until you possess a LP!! Hardtail
When you have an LP and a Strat, you don't have to get into debates about which one is better.

Now, Rampdog....here's a guy with some more LP tone for ya, and he's got attitude to boot!!   Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. Rampdog
Well Don... He sure touched alot of different tones in that vid. Some I liked and others didn't do much for me... If Mrs. Dog will let me sell the Piano maybe I can get one... If it ain't fun...why do it...? http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=778394&content=music
mdrs
O.K., Ramp....now we get serious. Perhaps more than any other axe I've researched, played, sought, and conquered (LOL), you MUST play many many LP's to find "a good one", or put another way, the one that suits you. I know that you knew that, but I had to say that.....it's a compulsion..... I played everyone I could, literally for years. Then, when I least expected it, I picked one up in a little music shop (when Gibson still let the little guys sell their stuff) and it adopted me!! Keep us posted. revolead
I got to play one of those at my neighbors. His is awesome. It's a reissue, but I can't say I've heard a better Les Paul in person. Does the Gary Moore, Slash, and Jimmy Page thing very well. Shut up and play.

Don, I feel the same way about any guitar, specifically, Teles and Strats. I've been looking for two years for a good blues machine. It wasn't until recently that I finally decided to go ahead and muster up the finances for a second credit card. It was one of those must buy now or kick yourself in the ass forever things. Funny you feel the same about an LP. I always figured they were more consistent overall. Then again, I still haven't found one with the right tone. Shut up and play. Bluesape
I had an old battered goldtop for a couple of years. Sounded great, but weighed a ton, and didn't deliver the playability I insist on. One day I was offered too much money for it....... I'd buy it back, for LESS! Or, suss out one I liked better, but the current pricing, even on well used ones, is nuts, and I haven't found one I'd like over 2 Strats, or 3 Godins, or a G&L. Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!

I played at least 20 Strats till I found the one that felt and sounded right to me... So I guess that's what's going to happen when, and I say WHEN I shop for an LP... Bottom line is, "It's Official"... Wifey says, NO... She pointed out as only a wife can that I bought a dedicated computor for recording so I am forbidden to get another guitar...(for now) I put on my saddest face and she wasn't fallin' for it. It's my birthday in a week or so and still the response was NO... Depression is setting in and I'm not sure if I can carry on... If it wasn't for my dog I'd end it all right now...
