ITGITC
If I Knew Then What I Know Now... Yeah... give me a minute. I'm sure I can think of a bunch of things - all related to my experiences playing music. 1. If I Knew Then What I Know Now... I would have probably passed on buying the RMI Electra-Piano. Even though it was manufactured in my hometown, and the Fender Rhodes pianos back then had really sluggish action. 2. If I Knew Then What I Know Now... I probably would have waited a while longer before trying to play a live gig with a MIDI sequencer. 3. If I Knew Then What I Know Now... I'd try not to waste so many hours in my "library" sitting there, drooling over gear porn catalogs. Instead, I would try to practice more. 4. If I Knew Then What I Know Now... I would have given up earlier in trying to get my drummer to play a little softer. ... I'm sure there'll be more to come. And, I'll betcha that some of you have something mo-better than this to add here. C'mon. Spill it. Ummmmmm, Happy Friday. Somebody help my hangover - buy me a beer. Is There Gas in the Car? Mr. Nightime
If I Knew Then What I Know Now... I would have gotten my dad to spring for a better record player, one that wasn't a 1/4 tone sharp on playback. I'd still have my Rhodes Stage 88 I'd have traded that guy my Farfisa Compact Duo with a Silvertone 100 amp for a Porta B with a 147 leslie. (I was still in high school, and didn't know any better) I wouldn't have left my CP-70B and my D6 Clavinet in Alaska when I moved away. "In the beginning, Adam had the blues, 'cause he was lonesome. Joe P
If I knew then what I know now...I would have bought some good gear when I could have afforded it, instead of waiting until I had one kid, a wife, a mortgage and another kid on the way... If I knew then what I know now...I would have played more than just octaves on 880000000 on the lower manual of my M3 back in the '80's. Oh well, live and learn, right? Great thread idea, Tom. Botch
If I Knew Then What I Know Now... 1. I woulda pleaded a bit more with my folks to spring for a saxophone, instead of the trombone I settled for... 2. I woulda quit playing country music much, much earlier... 3. I wouldn'ta bought the EX-5... 4. I wouldn'ta volunteered for that assignment in ND... 5. I wouldn'ta taken Latin in junior high... 6. I woulda taken that gal in Albuquerque up on her offer... Great, now I'm all bummed out. HOW'S THE HEAD DOING, GAS???? ProfD
If I knew then what I know now... 1) I would not have bought 75% of the keyboards I have owned. 2) I would have memorized more Real Book, Great American Songbook and Pop tunes. 3) I would not have stopped gigging in order to concentrate on music production and studio work. Well, at least it is not too late. I'm not quite a 1/2 century old yet. TGIF everybody! PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. Might be a bit before it's ready. After I'm done there's still some other parts needed before it's mixed. I'm recording the rhythm piano, lead piano, organ, and any other keyboard parts I think it needs. Already recorded the vocals. I'll definately make it available when it's done. Pat Azzarello
1. In 1992 I wouldn't have sold that Minimoog that had issues (to a friend who could afford to make it a MIDIMoog, so at least it got used by someone who knew how... but still...). 2. I would have worn earplugs (or in-ears) on all gigs 3. I would have turned down gigs that "just didn't feel right" or couldn't afford to pay my standard rate - especially when I rationalized them as "well at least I'll make some money. BluesKeys
Tom, I am with ya bro.... help me get this belt off my head.LOL If I knew then what I know now.... 1. I would not have bought that Univox thing with keys. 2. I wouldn'd have bought the Kawai K4 that was always a POS. 3. I would not have bought the Yamaha CP30 and saved for CP70. 4. I would not have stopped gigging regularly for 20 years. 5. I would have not married my second wife. It was PG though  6. I would not have had that second shot last night, thank goodness I spilled my beer after that. Thanks for the memories Tom. eric
I probably would have kept a few things that I sold, so I could have more of a synth museum at home. But I would probably need a bigger music room to hold all that gear! I would have practiced more and not lost my mad classical chops that I had in high school and early college when I really got into the rock band thing. Other than this, I have few musical regrets. Dave Horne
I would have never bought a sampler and William Coakley's Perfect Piano Vol. 3. No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. RABid
If I Knew Then What I Know Now... I would own a big chunk of Microsoft. Hell, I might have applied for a job with them. I would have avoided half of the bands I played with. I would have taken singing lessons in high school along with my piano lessons. I would have kept my MemoryMoog, no matter how many headaches it gave me. I would not have left my big keyboard rig set up in that music store where we were practicing. The music store that burned down and took my $10,000 rig with it back in the 80's. I guess if I had kept the MemoryMoog, it would have burned. Oh well. Forget the previous "I would have...". If i Knew how much time I wasted on forums and how productive I am when i completely avoid forums, i would have not have registered a couple of years ago. 2). If I knew that having more gear would only make me less productive, i wouldnt have bought all the stuff i have now. 3). If i knew monitors made a great difference, i woulda not bought the headphones and gone for the real deal. Dont follow me....i'm lost too.... MidLifeCrisis
I would have never bought a sampler and William Coakley's Perfect Piano Vol. 3. Too funny! If I knew then.... I would have not turned down some of those groupies. Who knew that women would never throw themselves at me ever again in my life. Would have never traded my 58 Telecaster for a 122 Leslie. Who would have known they would sell for $35,000 today. Kept my C3 and Rhodes just to have them. Cherished the moments better. They we too fleeting and way too short.
