Danzilla
And have a religious conversion, too? I saw this ad on Craigslist and 1) thought of him; 2) had to write a disclaimer assuring my friends that I did NOT post this ad. "Bass player with MASSIVE bass rig (with moving lights) looking for a cool band of Christian rockers. Had to leave my last band b/c they just weren't as cool as I am! (haha - told them I moved to California to get them off my back!) Band must have massive amounts of guitars, amps, pa and drum equipment - preferably each member should have a few of each. Guitarists must play through full stacks to keep up with my MASSIVE bass stack, and preferably play Gibson Les Pauls, or similar (no wimpy single coil guitars!!). Prefer if drummer has at least 2 bass drums (double bass pedal doesn't count!), and must be completely surrounded by drums and cymbals so there's always something to hit. 2 or 3 cowbells mandatory!! It's not rock without cowbells people! Vocalist should *never* have a sore throat, and should look *hawt* to attract a large following. I'm available to audition potential bands this weekend, so practice up your stuff and give me a call, and I'll check you out to see if you are cool enough. You know where to find me, so give me a call! (if you have to ask, then you're NOT cool!) " Strangely, I'm envious of him. Got to respect someone who knows what they want, and they want the Big Time. mcbn
PostCount... I mean Thanny did kinda just drop of the forum rather abruptly. Maybe he got suspended from skool for dinking around on the Internet too much. I wonder if I could get suspended from work?

Phil W
Whoah! That doesn't sound good. Some kind of corrective institute for renegade use of the English language? edit later - Sorry people, poor taste there, I guess Thanny made some wrong choices; haven't we all sometime. Bottomgottem
Whoopsie...hope that his bad choices weren't too bad. Isn't "residential housing" redundant? My whole trick is to keep the tune well out in front. TimR
Weird. I'm not sure whether the 'Residential Housing' might mean he has gone to College and is staying there while he studies. Hence a 'bad choice' as far as his band is concerned, or whether it is something more serious. His sudden disappearance from the forum suggests the latter to me. Rocky McDougall
You know how new girlfriends are. They want to change you completely. They want you to get rid of you past habits, friends ,etc. If you have something you really love, (like a bass guitar) it is the first thing to go. I warned him. Poor Thanney, I really miss him. None of our members have his style and way with words. Rocky "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb, voting on what to eat for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb, contesting the vote." Whacked
OK, that sucks for Thanny. Can just hope that whatever reason he is there, it wakes him up so no more repeating. and I doubt they will let him have his bass there. to easy to get smashed up and made into shivs, and the g string tore up for (thick) tatoo needles, or worse. Phil W
Yeah, that's a point there Whacked. They probably allow the bass but no strings. Wonder if there are any musical opportunities. I have some friends that get plenty of work teaching music in prisons over here - not sure about juvenile detention centres. http://philwbass.com

JonathanD
In the past 40 years there have been a couple alternative ways of running a correctional institute. Some of them did so well as to produce a 30% recidivism rate instead of an 80%. Some of the things employed were music, reading, and learning programs. I know where I am from there are no book, no music, and only 1 guard controlled TV in the jail and in the youth facility there isnt even a TV. Its all about degradation and humiliation. Make them shower naked in front of the guards, sleep naked, no cloths are allowed in the room. There is some break time at the youth facility where you can play cards or something, but on my observational visits it didnt seem to be in use. And if I let it loose, I think that the court system (around where I live at least) is set up to make money. Its a scam fr the most part, yes I'm glad they bust people making meth because they could blow up my house and its really bad for the body... but since there jail is to packed full of marijuana users they have to make the meth makers pay a fine and be on there way.... wonder how they paid it off? Last note... A 18 year old senior sold some pills to a guy who sold them to a guy who sold them to a kid who ODed (didnt die) because he drank and ate the pills. The original guy gets put in jail and bonded out. Because he is "depressed" the court psychologist suggests he take the SAME PILLS HE WAS SELLING in a large prescription since he already has a tolerance. I'll be damned.... he sold those also and the cops busted him and he spent 8 years in jail. Good luck Thanny... Hope to see you back soon., Jonathan

Eric VB
After parenthetically inquiring recently about Thanny XIII I was given a friendly pointer to this thread. I remember reading the first few posts but didn't check back when the discussion about Master Thanny's lack of fortunes ensued. I sincerely hope Thanny takes this opportunity as a wake up call, as I have had a family member in halfway houses. The behavior that led to trouble with the law was only the symptom of something deeper that ultimately lead to self destruction. "There's still time to change the road you're on", as the song goes. Sometimes we barrel on through life without worrying about where the road we're on will take us until we hit its destination, such as residential housing. Is it time to make a U-turn or continue down the path? I don't know how many of you dug a little deeper on Thanny's band's MySpace. There is a public blog with some rather prophetic lyrics that I assume the band wrote: Wednesday, November 09, 2005 Darkstar As we sit and wait as our fates are sealed we can't forget our bonds bound by each other the greatest gift we bare is our ability to change As we sit and wait the darkness is overwhelming there is nothing that can stop it and we can not resist. Newf
Hopefully Thanny will take his current situation as an opportunity to turn things around. As a person who's made more then a few mistakes in the great game of life I know that it's never too late to turn things around. It can be hard but for sure it's definitely worth it.
