Dave Horne
Because my new computer is faster than my old one I decided to try out CNN's Pipeline. I'll pay the $25 after my free two week tryout. Anyone here also sign up to this service? No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. ProfD
So, the Crappy News Network has found a way to charge for its service? At any rate, keep this mind: "Additionally, regular featured programs found on CNN's domestic services are unavailable to Pipeline users. This fact is not made clear in advertisements for the service, so anyone expecting online access to the CNN to which they are accustomed will be disappointed." Dave Horne
ProfD, I already have seen segments on Pipeline that are not on our 'International' TV version of CNN. I'd love to receive MSNBC over here and I probably could if I upgraded my basic cable TV package. No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. Dave Horne
... one more thing ... another reason I signed up was to avoid those annoying 15 - 30 second commercials. ProfD
DH, if it is a worthwhile supplement to the news you are receiving already, $25 per annum is not too bad. No different from a newspaper subscription. Let's just hope the 2 week trial does not end with a bait and switch. I find it amazing that we are charged for everything that was once free i.e. water, news, sunlight, etc. Well, at least the internet is free again. Strategery
NOooo..please....Not the Communist News Network! You need the....We report..you decide...network. Man, don't pay for any of them. Geez....give me the $25 and just shoot me an email every now and then. I'll let you know what's going on. Randy S. "Just play!"
Dave Horne
$25 is not so bad considering just how weak the US dollar is. Whenever I buy anything in US dollars I always pay using my Dutch MasterCard - that $25 is closer to 19. I also think part of my enjoyment of my new computer is my 20" flat wide screen monitor. (I actually thought I ordered a 19" wide screen but 20" shows on the invoice. Now I'm thinking, maybe I should have ordered a 22" wide screen. Where will it end?) A lot of what is on the premium service are editorials by popular sportscasters. No thanks. Oh and CNN still stands for the Clinton News Network. Don't forget Hillary is running for President. ProfD
DH, the key to continued enjoyment of your new computer is to stay out of the electronics store, virtual and physical. Otherwise, you will find all kinds of peripherals and software to load up on your new computer. It will be neverending. In your case since our dollar is so weak, I can understand how it would not be as bad. I've heard mixed things about some of the internet extras of Television stations.
