Deluxe, Twin, Super...

Reverb. Tomorrow I'm going to the store to test them out for possible X-Mas prospects.

In case you're wondering, I'm looking for a tube amp that will last me for many years, both for practice and for gigging.

Does anyone have any info they can pass along?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Twin if you wanna be louder than anybody....great sound too. Tremendous clean headroom. Your ears will bleed by the time it breaks up.

Super Reverb....sweet, chimey, great amp.

Deluxe....nirvana....on "2" it's a blues clean toneful dose of Fender bliss. On "5" it rocks!! Not that loud....I'd think it's O.K. for a small venue, but not a large one.

I recently played the Deluxe Reverb Tweed, which has a foot switchable second overdriven or dirty channel. I really liked it a lot.

I hope this helps.

From the sound of it, I'm going to put the Twin as last, too many watts and too much power.

Super, all i can think of is SRV :thu: , 45 watts is alright by me. however, the darn thing weighs 65 lbs

The deluxe seems to be just about right.

I'm still going to try each one though.

Interesting.....I happen to have a Deluxe fetish...I have a TV tweed, a narrow panel tweed, a brown face, and a blackface Deluxe.....the narrow panel and the blackface are two of my fav's....and I have a couple of other good old amps...

Deluxe's rock!! And, they can be very soulful as well.

I agree whole-heartedly.

I have never played through a Deluxe that was a dog. I have encountered some Twins (and a Quad I once owned) that were a bit disappointing. The Deluxe is absolutely my all-time favorite tube amp! Black-face, Silver Face or reissue model. They were all great sounding amps.

I've got a Hot Rod Deluxe that I'd ditch for a regular Deluxe in a heartbeat if I could afford it. I have a silver face Super Reverb that I wouldn't get rid of for anything. The Super flat out cooks and can do anything for jazz to rock (with pedals for distortion, it'll make your ears bleed if you have it loud enough to distort on it's own, unless you're in a big room).
Turn me over, I'm done on this side...

I've not owned a Delux, I have a old black face SuperReverb now and it's a wonderful amp! I've owned a couple of Twins and they are great amps and I've been able to use their loudness to it's full potential and WOW!!! I can't comment on the Delux but I would always listen to Myles on this sutff... other than that you couldn't go wrong with a SuperReverb, nowdays the Super is just not loud enough for the size gigs I do, that requires the Marshall.

The early '50's TV Deluxe Tweed is a collector's item....sound is cool, not outstanding. I'd take a good tweed or blackface Champ over this one any day.

The '56 Tweed narrow panel Deluxe is an awesome amp. Tone to die for!! Loud enough for small venues. With the volume at 3 or lower, it's Fender clean defined. Above 4, it breaks up with sublime glee!! It's a chimey, harmonically complex delight! I love it. It has character in spades. Pure magic! Leo was brilliant.

The '65 Blackface Deluxe Reverb is all that the '56 is, and a bit more mids and base. It's a slightly larger box. It too has the fantastic Fender clean below 4, and breaks up like a banshee over 4!! This is a blues and Jazz natural.

The Brown Deluxe Reverb is a rock and roll monster. It seems to break up easier....Perhaps it's a bit harder to make the brown clean and sweet.

Since apparently the silverface Deluxe Reverbs were essentially unchanged from the blackface ones, perhaps they might be the best $$ deal as far as Deluxe Reverbs go??
